This is a Super Horror Move Just Like All the Evil Dead Movies
Modern Version of Evil Dead. Earthquake uncovers Evil Book of the Dead, a Family finds the book and unleashes a Demon that posses the mother and wrecks havoc on the family. If you a fan of Evil Dead grab this Movie. Too intense for young children (Blood/Gore Adult Language)

Relieved to say it's a great addition to the series.
Going in, I didn't know what to expect. I loved this series and developed a sort of obsession with it, as I often do, but the reboot left me underwhelmed. I remember very little about the reboot outside of the neat looking cabin and the girl trying to kick her heroin habit.I was much more engaged with this film than that one. I think one thing that helped me resonate with it is I'm incredibly familiar with the type of setting. I've grown up in apartment buildings my whole life, and this movie does an incredible job of nailing that feeling. There's so many shots in this film that made me think to myself, "that's exactly how a quarantined demon-infested apartment building would feel/look".The actors are great. None of them felt obnoxious or apathetic. The leading lady in particular was great, though I hope she forgives me for forgetting her name. But they're all good. Some of the more recent comments about this series from the creators makes me nervous. It sounds like they could be taking it in a direction I'd hate, mass produced stuff made on a deadline instead of anything interesting or fun. It could be a death knell for a cult icon and I don't know what they're thinking. But this would be a great last gasp before the tumble downward. I don't wanna be too negative about a future that is yet to be, so I'll just say that this movie is great and occupies a unique place in the series. It's also great as a stand-alone horror movie, if my fanboy yapping turned you off. Don't let unfamiliarity stop you from checking it out.

It was a valiant effort.
I love seeing installments of this franchise as the original is an old favorite. This was one of the better of the newer films but that is not saying much. It was gory fun but the story line could be better. I think they touch a bit on the surreal nature of the original film towards the end but not enough. I love that about the original, It is almost funny like something out of a comic book.

LOVED THIS MOVIE
Watched it the first time and fell in love that I just had to watch a second time. I'm a horror fanatic and this is by far one of the best horror movies I've seen this year.

Bloody, gory fun
I'll admit, I'm biased: I have yet to see an Evil Dead movie I didn't like, although the reasons for that vary from film to film. This is higher-budget than any of the Sam Raimi classics, and faster-paced than the 2013 Evil Dead, but seems to pack as much blood and gore into its 96 minutes as any of the others. The story is simple, and follows the same outline as the other Evil Deads. Someone finds the forbidden book, someone intones the unholy incantation and summons the ancient demons, and Bad Things happen to the people in the vicinity. The variety comes from finding out how many different bloody circumstances you can hang on the same framework.Aside from the prologue (which pays tribute to Wuthering Heights and it's ghost-story narrative frame), the action takes place in a nearly-abandoned and soon-to-be-demolished apartment building. Guitar technician Beth, having just been hit with some life-changing news, visits her sister Ellie and Ellie's three kids, in an apartment complex that looks like it should have been condemned a decade ago. Although they clearly share a familial bond, the two sisters do not get along well. Ellie repeatedly refers to Beth as a "Groupie", disrespecting her actual job, and Beth has been so absent from Ellie's life that she learns of her separation from her husband months after the fact.A mild earthquake reveals a crack in the foundation of the building, uncovering a vault where the Necronomicon—err, the "Naturom Demonto"—has been hidden. One of the teen children opens it and plays the accompanying vinyl recording, and the spirits arise. Their first victim is Ellie, who becomes possessed while in the elevator, and things go downhill from there, leading to a climax in the parking garage between the survivors and a hideous, hybrid monster. In between, this movie pours on the red sauce, and displays other body horror elements that are a trademark of the franchise. Alyssa Sutherland is creepy as the possessed mother, and Lily Sullivan is convincingly bad-ass as her survive-at-all-costs sister. Even the young actors do well in this movie, which is always dicey, especially in a movie as intense as this. The pacing is perfect and the gore effects are revolting. This isn't for everyone, but if you've read this far, you know what kind of movie it aims to be, and I am pleased to report it hits its target dead center.

A Modern Cult Classic
This is, by far, the most scariest and most entertaining new Horror Movie. It is more frightening than Terrifier and I want to stand and applaud and salute the all-female cast. I felt so sorry and sad for the first victim, namely the elder of the two sisters. The entire movie is full of good scenes. I love the beginning when the first possessed begins to quote Wuthering Heights and comes out to take over the others' souls. I also loved when the eldest sister comes back from the lift and tries to get back to normal, and enters the kitchen and smashes eggs into the pan and flies out of the bathtub onto the ceiling and crawls around on and the walls. I love when the family merge into one. It is the Evil Book of the Undead that is playing, through the chants on the record. For me, the best performance goes to the eldest sister. I really cry for her because she is the mother of those children and she even says as she enters, in whispers, "It...it's not me." but is overpowered and how the younger sister tries to bring her back and cries for her. A true loving family wrecked by those evil dead spirits. The best Horror Film I have ever seen in my life. I have my own book coming out this Halloween and now feel so proud to have written stories like this particular one.

Very good film.
A very good film. Lots of blood and gore! Very dark thought, and had to watch it, with the lights off. Thankfully, it did have subtitles! Overall, happy with this great horror movie. Thanks.
