His name is "D.C." short for "Darn Cat" the sleekest sleuth ever to grace the silver screen. Hayley Mills stars as a young woman with an active imagination who contacts the F.B.I. when D.C. suddenly sports a wristwatch around his neck. Shes convinced its the tip-off to crack a baffling bank robbery and kidnapping case. Dean Jones is the allergic federal agent who sniffs around for clues only to find love in the air. An impressive supporting cast Frank Gorshin, Elsa Lanchester, Roddy McDowall and Ed Wynn add to the nonstop zaniness. With its clever mix of mystery, romance and all-out slapstick, THAT DARN CAT! is the cats meow for purr-fect family entertainment! Review: Dvd - Good film Review: DC to the rescue! - The cat and Hayley Mills steal the show in this very funny Disney film, also featuring Dean Jones as an inept yet very enthusiastic FBI agent, who is involved in the life of Hayley Mills when DC (Darn Cat) returns from one of his regular sorties in the big, bad world with what Hayley sees as a clue to a recent crime. The sequence of events which unfold after she contacts the FBI (is it really that easy?) is portrayed as part slapstick involving the hapless and very human Dean Jones and the perpetrators of the crime (naturally bungling idiots!) and part satire on an easily understood level. A typical Disney film of the era when Hayley Mills was being featured as she was moving from child star status to movies which showed not only her flair for comedy, but also others to follow which showed her dramatic ability as well, eg The Moonspinners and The Family Way, and the scarey Twisted Nerve. Overall, That Darn Cat is an extremely funny movie for the whole family, one which had me chuckling constantly and at times laughing loudly at the antics of DC and his humans. Thoroughly recommended.

a class peice of film with a great feel
brilliant classic movie, not as well known as some but all the same this film is worth a buy, it is atmospheric and has an easy to follow plot, good feel film with a cat in it for cat lovers, and a fantastic disney cameo for dean jones, and also hayley mills last disney film so it was a film of meetings and partings, not to forget the riddler is in this film. but not as the riddler, frank gorshin is acting a crook. anyway the slapstick is good and the laughs are there with a nice grin upon your face and a feeling of a small amount of money has been well spent. i am very happy with this film and will not be parting with it hope they make it 3d bluray ( doubt it but be nice) anyway i loved it you will too

Sheer Delight
There is no doubt about it, back in "those days" entertainment was entertainment. The story is silly, and in many cases very predictable - however be that as it may. This movie is a Walt Disney delight. The cat is the show stealer and is responsible for many laughs. Of course that is what it is all about. A laugh a minute. The acting is good and reliable, no special effects stealing the show, and as the movie ends with the "badies" having been apprehended and the girl having got the guy, I felt entertained and relaxed. Thank you for a wonderful addition to my collection. A must if you just want to be entertained.

Disney fun
This film is a lot of fun. It allows Hayley Mills to grow up just a little, and as with all the Disney films in which she featured, this one is well done. It has some suspense, a lot of humour, a remarkable cat, and is ideal for those times when one wants to drop out and relax with something light-weight but well made. An impressive supporting cast, including Dean Jones as the Federal agent, makes this a movie worth owning.

Lovely film for cat Lovers
This is the best film I have seen about a cat. The cat is gorgeous in it. I love the actors in it they are so funny. This is an old film but a classic! I can't believe I never herd of this film before! I can't stop staying to my cat now that Darn Cat! I watched this film on New Year's day it came New Year's Eve. Which was perfect as there was nothing nice on TV only depressing stuff and this film is a feel good film.

Chat alors!

Widescreen in Region 2 version...
Had not seen this since I was a kid and was watching with my child. We saw the first few minutes on YouTube with the Bobby Darin song and then decided to go hunting for the full movie. There was another US DVD available with a new and old version of the movie, but it appeared to be a 4:3 version, so I went with this "Region 2" DVD instead. I am not sure why Disney hasn't released a widescreen version for the US. Fortunately, I happen to have access to a "Region 2" European DVD player so I could play this. It was a pretty funny movie with a lot of Disney regulars (Haley Mills, Dean Jones) as well as big stars like Roddy McDowall from Planet of the Apes. Overall, just an enjoyable goofy 60s comedy....
