Good Book
If you want to know about the Mig-19, this is your book. It's interesting to read a book like this and compare the aircraft to their American and/or British Counterparts. It's hard not to be constantly reminded of the similarities between the Mig-19 and the F-100. Like other books in this series, it contains a lot of technical minutia that some might find a little tedious, but others will appreciate.

As a stand alone book is not bad at all
As a stand alone book is not bad at all. Good history of the airplane, great original photos, excellent coverage of the in service airplanes. A bit less that I expected on the combat history, or weapon operating modes or used tactics. The technical description suffers from the same problem found throughout all Y. Gordon books. Too much focus on the static airframe, such as nuts and bolts and little to nothing about radar or missiles. But if you are one of those who bought other Yefim Gordon books in the past, this new book offers almost nothing but recycled text or photos, previously found in earlier titles. Very little info offered when compared with his previous books. From that perspective is not worth the full book price.

Pathetic Packaging
Wealth of development details. Technical drawings were too few and of rather poor or crude quality. For example, there is only one (!) photo of the RD-9 engine, and the NR-30 cannon installation drawing looks like it was drawn by a third-grader.Once again, Amazon packaging is utterly appalling. It took three tries to get a decent copy, and even then the jacket was badly torn and the spine has a deep puncture.
