Trend Whetstone/Credit Card Sharpening Set: Diamond Sharpening Stone, Diamond Credit Card Stone, Leather Strop, Lapping Fluid, Mirror Paste & Storage Case, DWS/KIT/J

I purchased the Trend Whetstone/Credit Card Sharpening Set: Diamond Sharpening Stone, Diamond Credit Card as an easier way to keep the edges on my tungsten carbide router bits sharpened. The "credit card" stones are small enough to hit the router bit edges easily and work very well.

For the price this is an excellent sharpening kit. The trend fluid included is noticeably better than just using water at keeping the diamonds clear of material removed and lubricating the diamond plate.The only reason I marked down from 5 stars is that the course side of the plate is not perfectly flat. It's close, but you can tell that some areas are raised slightly which is noticeable when trying to flatten the backs of plane irons and chisels.

I ordered the 8” bench and credit card diamond sharpening set. My first delivery had deep scratches on the 300 grit plate. I return that set for a new one.Although the new set looked good initially, the 1000 grit side was not completely flat. I will call Trend and speak to their customer service dept. will see what happens.

Good quality stones as advertised. 300/1000 is going to get you functional planes but not the crazy sharp you see master craftsman achieve. I was able to restore some old planes chisels I inherited and The case is very generic and oversized for the kit Lots of room for the contents to get tossed around. I pack it with a small towel to prevent damage. I would recommend it to a friend but would add a honing guide. I will be purchasing 3000 or 5000 to get that one thin veneer pass everyone wants

The set arrived with all the things there, nothing missing, however the "mirror paste" I got was all COMPLETELY dried out, so all I have now is a little jar of dust that I wonder how to reconstitute.The plate itself looks decent, no way, at the moment, to accurately check for flatness. The carry case that they give is odd as it's a case for a respirator, and while it works, looks like they just had a surplus of them lying around and this kit was a way for them to get rid of them.

Todas las piezas del paquete ofrecen una calidad evidentemente deficiente, el cuero para la pasta de diamante está contraído, la placa de afilar no es totalmente plana tiene los bordes curvos y así un largo etc etc.Anteriormente compré y utilizo productos Trend (líquido de afilar, guías de afilar formones) su calidad y eficiencia eran bastante buenas, nada parecido a el control de calidad de hoy.
