great book
The book has arrived well packed and without any delay, as usual with Amazon. Some word about the book content: if you love basketball, read this book; if you respect athletes who gain prizes and medals by means of hard work, read this book; if you think that a champion is not necessarily an extravagant guy, read this book. After the reading take a look to some Larry's game highlight or (if you can) watch some old game tape, and you'll be able to deeply appreciate each step, each small movement, each eye-message between Larry and his teammates. Maybe you'll be able to better understand the 80's NBA basketball.I'm really happy to have this book in my library now.

I was and I am a huge fan of Bird the player, coach and person. Perhaps that is why I expected a bit more from this book.Bird has always struck me as a highly intelligent guy who has an unique ability to see and understand basketball. This book however is mostly superficial. It gives you a solid synopsis of what Bird has done in his career, where he is from and what he thinks of his contemporaries and if you are a fan of basketball you will probably enjoy reading it. However we get only a glimpse of his personality. I was waiting to read something about his legendary trash-talk abilities, his views of life in general or analysis of what made him such a great player, but he seems almost too modest to bring himself out.

just gotta love this mans grit

Not up to his playing standards
I had high hopes, as I used to watch him with a mixture of awe and disbelief. However, it does feel VERY ghost written, and barely scratches the surface. Probably written with a careful eye on those around him at that time.

Print, paper quality are quite average
I understand it is a Pocket size book, papernack, but the print quality is sub par and not consistant from one page to another or one chapter to another.

Very good book. I have found otu a lot of Larry Bird, hid life, his thinking, his knowlege of basketball. There is a lot of things in his life that I didin't know until now. I would adwise to read this book to everyone who is his fan or wants to know something about the basketball in 80' and early 90'. Great reading for basketball enthusiasts or just for Larry Bird fan.
