Precise fit, very well made - not for a beginner
These kits are extremely well made. The laser cutting of the parts on the wooden sheets is very precise and clean, and the parts fit well. I only gave it 3 stars for "easy to assemble", because these kits take a long time to build. Figure on at least 3 days on this particular one, and that's if you can dedicate 6-8 hours per day. Some people seem to knock these out faster, but not me. It requires patience and care, especially when separating the parts from the sheet. A sharp Xacto knife is a must for this, to separate the little tabs that hold the pieces into the sheet. Without that, you risk breaking the smaller more delicate parts. I highly recommend this kit. If you are a careful model builder, you will be rewarded with a fine finished product.

One of Ugears best models
A fun assembly with a resulting moving dinosaur. The movement is most amusing as it lumbers around like a real Jurassic herbivore.

The UGEARS Stegosaurus Kit: A Study in Patience
I'm partway through constructing the UGEARS Stegosaurus model and felt it necessary to share my experiences thus far. The kit's complexity goes beyond what the product images and piece count suggest. UGEARS estimates an 8-hour build time, but at the 8-hour mark, I find myself only a quarter of the way through. This isn't due to any fault in the kit but rather my meticulous approach to ensure each piece fits perfectly and operates smoothly, given its articulated design. This process involves a lot of trimming and sanding, often requiring me to preview upcoming steps to understand how the pieces fit together. While some might view this as a tedious task, for me, it's a labor of love. Building model kits is a journey where the process is as rewarding as the finished product.Despite the slower progress, my enjoyment of the kit hasn't waned. I anticipate the completed model will be a lovely display piece, but more importantly, I value the building experience. It's a kit that demands patience and precision, making it more suited for the dedicated hobbyist than someone looking for a quick build. I look forward to updating this review once the model is complete, but for now, I'm thoroughly enjoying the intricate process of bringing this Stegosaurus to life.

Excellent toy for engineering/lego-minded kids
My nephew had blown past all lego sets that exist by the time he turned 7 earlier this year, so figuring out a gift was a real head scratcher. This set is fun and different from what he is used to and forced him to contemplate shape and fit from a different angle (and bought his parent a couple of hours of quite time). He particularly enjoyed having to figure out the motion piece, which is sort of given to you in a lego set. It was a winner and now sits assembled above his bed. If you have a kid that loves building, sets, engineering, legos, etc., this set is great.

Very complex assembly with poor instructions and illustrations
The model was one of the most complex I have ever assembled compounded by poor and confusing descriptive illustrations. I had to take apart and reassemble parts several times because the instructions were not clear and without sufficient detail. The model when assembled is very impressive but any small mistake can cause it to be inoperable.Avoid the frustration .

Great gift
Family friends have a son with autisim - he's high functioning. He loves making computer art -- and was very good at putting this together. He REALLY enjoyed the high-concentration process.

Poor Instructions and needs loots of time.
Well built pieces, thicker wood, but very difficult to assemble due to the extremely tight fit between posts and holes. You must wax every post and it is still difficult to fit together, requiring extreme pressure, but don’t break it! The assembly instructions are very bad. When you get to the last 2 assemblies of the thighs and legs you will not understand the awful pictures. You cannot determine what attaches to what. The fits are so tight that when completed it would not move under its spring power. Also, this took me 40 hours and this is my hobby for 50 years!!
