Great for small projects and general practice
As described. Great value. Perfect size for quick whittling ideas and for practicing techniques.

Very hard basswood for carving.
I am a beginner and canot seem to get this wood to carve. It's like carving a 2 x 4. I even spray with water/alcohol mix and that helps for about 2 minutes. If you are a beginner try something else. Stropping every 5 min or so and it doesn't help. I could see where it would be good for other craft project besides hand carving or are using saws and such.
