BEST OPTION TO WEIGH DOWN KRAUT IN A WIDE MOUTH JAR!
Very quick shipping! Came 2 days early! These are the very best weights for making sauerkraut in wide mouth jars vs a crock. They fit well with a bit of leeway and I have not had any issues getting them out of any Ball jar when the kraut is done fermenting. Nice finger grips to take them out. I would not attempt to put them in a jar without the kraut already packed in because then, and only then, they might be difficult to get out. I have tried using other methods to hold the shredded cabbage under the brine but these weights are the BEST OPTION. They hold the shredded cabbage down under the brine very nicely. Yes they are a little pricey but I will use them for years and I think they are worth the money. Heavy and durable glass. Try not to drop one on the floor!

Awesome product.
These are so good I ordered another set. They are very well made, not cheap at all. Heavy enough to hold down peppers and sauerkraut. Easy to clean. Sized correctly so the fermenting product doesn't slip by and cause mold. I highly recommend these to anyone who ferments food.

Works
Seem to work ok. Very costly for what they are. I find no issues removing the weights with my fingers, but I know how to say, no thanks I'm full.

So Far, So Good
They fit in wide mouth mason jars. Their weight is enough to keep food submerged. Just be careful because others have said that they get stuck. UPDATE***** Okay, like a few others I have gotten one stuck. I got it out, but here's how: I closed the jar tightly, turned upside down, and spun it left and right very quickly. Once I turned it back upright, I opened the lid, then gripped both sided with my hands, and used two fingers from each hand to grip the weight in the middle. From there I slowly pulled the weight up and it came out. Hoping that helps. The weight was completely wedged sideways and wouldn't budge before I tried that.

Pretty and effective
These little glass fermentation weights are super cute and very effective. Once placed in the top of a wide mouth Mason jar, the water level is raised in order to keep things fully submerge. When attempting to remove the fermentation weight it does get a bit slippery so I tip the weight a bit in order to grab the edge and pull out. I have fermented things without these fermentation weights and without pickle pipes. I thought fermenting is so cheap and easy I can do it without spending money on anything else. Which you can. But the fermentation weights and pickle pipes are definitely a game changer! Making something so easy even easier! I put everything together and then I can just forget about it until it's done. The easier you make something the more likely you are to stick to it and the better it'll integrate into your busy life. The more complicated you make things the less likely it'll become part of your life style and the more likely it will just be something you tried once or twice. A little bit of money on fermentation weights and pickle pipes make fermenting foods something that's so easy it can become part of your lifestyle. I personally think everyone should be fermenting Foods it is one of the healthiest things we can do for our gut. In fermenting vegetables, the veggies must be submerged fully under the salted water in order to avoid mold growth. Add your ingredients to a wide mouth Mason jar, fill it with the salt water mixture, then place the weight into the wide mouth Mason jar to raise the water level ensuring everything is a completely submerged. Top with a pickle pipe which is a great combination with these fermentation weights, then let it sit at room temperature for about 5 days. BAM! You have healthy fermented vegetables and you're adding a great probiotic to your gut! I normally check my fermented foods about every 2 days to make sure I don't see anything weird growing on top. Get some of these and start fermenting and improving the health of your microbiome.

Strong product
Used them quite a lot and have been happy with them. I did think they would be heavier although I don't know what weight would be right. They work OK, I just doubled up if Ineeded to.
