This is my second coffee distributor, purchased mostly as the result of curiosity! I’m unexpectedly glad I did.One would not expect it from such a simple tool but I’ve learned there’s a ‘technique’ to it. Because it’s adjustable one should - of course - experiment to find the best depth for one’s usual basket(s) and dose level(s). Using this after preparing the grounds bed I found what works best for *me* is to rest it on top and turn it a few times - slowly - letting the weight of this tool gradually pre-tamp the grounds into place.Once the outer lip of this tool makes contact (all or - if the baskets a bit full - mostly) with the rim of the basket I lift the tool slightly, let it drop into the basket to shake loose any residue, then give it a quick spin or two.Occasionally - when the basket’s a little fuller than usual and may not be perfectly level, but this is rare - I follow this by pressing down as I turn it manually.And done, ready for tamping.Oh, and it looks great. My wife thinks so too. She doesn’t agree with me on many things, but on this and other tools from this maker she does!

Good for my Breville 880 coffee machine, the espresso tastes better after using that.

ginds stick the sides a bit and wish it was a snugger fit. works great otherwise in an Ikape 58mm bottomless filter.
