There is no odor in our kitchen and we've had some pretty smelly things in there for weeks at a time without smells. I have a highly sensitive sense of smell so really, this is super.My only issue with this is that the plating is so thin that the copper flakes off without the least provocation. Just wiping the outside with a soft damp cloth brings pieces of copper off. If I had known that I would have bought the stainless steel one. Other than that though, I do genuinely love this compost bin for sitting on the counter and not smelling up our kitchen. ### ⭐⭐ Hated the lid *by S***C on Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2019* The finish is a bright shiny FAKE copper look. But that’s not the worst part. The worst part is the lid, which is a TOTAL pita to use. I wound up ditching the lid altogether, using the container for a planter (by sticking a smaller plastic planter w drainage holes into it) and buying a galvanized ice bucket with a plastic container inside it at Home Goods - which makes an excellent countertop compost bin! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and the copper finish is quite good looking on my counter *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2018* This composter works really well in my kitchen.
