Best purchase from Amazon ever!
Best purchase from Amazon ever! 70 bucks for this thing, then a $120 install from Best Buy, so for ~$200, I’ve got CarPlay plus new USB ports that power up my dash cam. The old USB ports had a trickle charge and wouldn’t even power up my dash cam. You will need to upgrade your firmware. For that go to YouTube and search for instruction vids by Killobyte. He also has one to change your settings to allow touchscreen functionality while driving, which comes in handy when using CarPlay. The connectivity to CarPlay is fast / instant once you plug in the USB cable (unlike some of my other vehicles), it works great and I am super happy with this. The technician at Best Buy said that it was easy to set up, and as far as fit is concerned, it fits exactly where the old USB module was located so I would say the fit is perfect. Now I can get rid of my cell phone mount and also the battery pack that I used to power up my dash cam.

Flawless!!!!
My wife has a 2018 Mazda CX-5. She is the original owner. We were quoted over $300 to get Apple Pay back when she bought the car. I finally got around to installing apple car play myself, you have to make sure you have the right firmware, there’s YouTube videos on it. It was easy and effective. If you are not save with basic computer skills, then I would say leave it to the professionals. It took me less then 2 hours to update the firmware and install the retro kit. Everything worked perfectly on the first try! Finally no more phone mounts!!!!

Satisified and recommended for the price
Why did you pick this product vs others?:It works fine with the CX5 GT 2018. Sometimes it disconnects the phone and register a failure, but I cant really say it is all the module since these mazda infotainment system is usually laggy and presenting misbehaviors since out from factory. Overall it works as expected.

Works great!
It does what it says, and at a reasonable price. The install itself is not that easy. Mainly due to how hard it is to do a software update on a Mazda. But once this is done, everything works like a charm.

Works great
This gave me carplay functionality in my 2015 Mazda 3 i GT. Installation will be basically identical with any of these, which is to say not too difficult. I've had it a few weeks now and have no complaints that could be the fault of this unit. Some installation advice if you get this:Don't disregard the foam pads you get. I noticed a bit of rattling near the shifter, even though it was zip-tied to other wires, and had to remove that part of the trim again to use the foam on them.Spend a minute or two flattening out one of the cables, just ~2 feet, or alternatively use a different cable all together. Feeding the wire from the nav unit down to the footwell genuinely was the hardest part. You can tie the other cable to the flat one once you've routed it through and pull it down further.Take your time, get an $8 trim removal kit, and enjoy saving a ton of money.

Easy and cheap
If you bought your 2018 CX5 without CarPlay or android auto, this is the way to go. The dealership will charge you a ridiculous amount of money for something that is easy to do with a 30 minute investment of time on your part.

Faulty after a week (Updated)
Update: Original review below. So I decided to troubleshoot and double check that everything was updated properly and installed correctly. After confirming that I read on a forum that doing a quick reset of the computer system could help and that seems to have fixed my issue. I would still warn the customer to be cautious when purchasing but for now it is working. Will update if it fails again.Installed this right after I recieved it and it worked for one week, and now it won't activate Android Auto. It also froze the main system which I had to reset. Buyer be warned.
