Kaplan and Sadock...rat race in the inner city for whom?
Meant to compliment Sadock the text is a means for self directed study that is geared for reviewing psychiatry and the boards. However, it appears mainly geared for inner city dwellers which is ironic because rural areas have saved the inner city many times over and so has government and whom can stand to eat one more snack while our steam is running out it doesn't mean we let go and become passe' and allow the bear of economy the capacity to run us ragged like Walstreet has not Statue of Liberty nor the Bull which resembles economics en Accion...example all the bail outs with the current administration...so to each his own and always have two sources of reference including the DMVIV... The authors have a point, at any given instantaneous point in time...any country can go bankrupt...but should it be at the expense of a misdiagnosis or a hasty diagnosis when teacher and learning are both learning and should be directed to their audience while not neglecting those that can save humanity without much help, usually not from the inner city while latter in life most do conglomerate to the retire out of the city...so yes we can not neglect MENSA those that are the gifted and average in which we have entrusted humanity through publishing, teaching and learning...which would not be government or they would get a diagnosis... Quite relevant. The realities harsh but frecuently I think the diagnosis excessive. Keep it simple and keep it Wise Potato Chips.

NOT Recommended for MOC exam
The ABPN Maintenance of Certification (MOC) exam covered adult clinical psychiatry. There was very little child psychiatry on the exam but a substantial proportion of this book is devoted to child psych. Also the exam covered virtually nothing on theoretical concepts (development, etc.) and had very little relating to the basic skills that are covered in first few chapters of this book. I read this book end-to-end and it was not the best use of my time. If you are preparing for MOC, would suggest focusing on DSM criteria, meds, substance abuse, legal issues, defense mechanisms, reproductive issues, HIV, delirium, and associated medical conditions. If you are practicing adult psychiatry full time and are up to date, you won't need to do too much preparation for this exam. The other problem with this book is it has SEVERAL mistakes and contradictions. Someone needs to go back over this carefully and correct them. It might be OK for the initial certification exam (except has very little neurology), but it is a waste of time for the MOC.

Regular
The book came with lots and lots of highlights, notes, answers...I still could use the book, but the initial seller review could have said all those details.

Love this book and have been extremely happy to find this collection on your web site. I've found it in many bookstore for considerable more money.
