What You Get
After receiving the clarifier, I wanted to check out what was involved in maintaining it before I went ahead and installed it, specifically how easy/difficult it would be to clean the quartz sleeve. When you decide to clean the quartz tube, the unit will need to be completely removed from wherever you've chosen to fix it, due to the need to access a couple of concealed screws on one of the brackets. In pic1 I've laid out everything you'll receive in the box. One thing that isn't explained in the product description is that there is a transformer fitted into the supply cable. I don't know whether this is suitable for fitting externally or not, but it looks like a sealed unit, you'll need to consider where the best location is for this prior to installation.Pic2 shows the bracket nearest the UV lamp end removed. The screws that hold the bracket together on the clarifier are at the back of the bracket, hence the need to unfix the clarifier from wherever it's mounted in order to get access to the hidden screws. Once the bracket is unclamped from the body of the clarifier (note the screws holding the bracket together are very tight, they're phillips type screws), you'll see the join where the body can be split apart.Pic3 shows the end cap unscrewed. This is where the 36 watt UV bulb will be fitted.Pic4 shows the clarifier body split apart to reveal the quartz tube. This is a firm connection, be careful as you pull the two halves of the clarifier body apart.Pic5 The quartz tube can now be pulled out of the clarifier body and cleaned.I haven't yet installed this clarifier, so I can't comment on how well it works, but judging by the number of positive reviews that have been posted it seems to do a good job. My review is aimed at giving some idea of how the unit is constructed and what's involved in maintaining it as these were thoughts going through my mind when I was looking to replace my existing clarifier. Hope this proves useful to any prospective buyers.

It was easy to install
The Jebao 36w UVC Water Pond Clarifier light arrived on time well packaged . It was easy to install . The Jebao 36w is doing a great job in clearing the pond water . With all the sunshine we were having the water had clouded . In less than a week I could see the difference.

DO NOT BUY FOR SALT WATER
I bought this for my reef aqarium. After 6 months there was a manufacturers fault with the bulb socket which caused it to short out and melt. This seller refused to replace it because they said I had used it for saltwater. Very disingenuous seller.

Small unit capable of tackling large ponds.
I have a large koi pond that holds about 10,000 litres of water. The water has been green for a couple of years but since fitting this clarifier, the water is now crystal clear. I had to be patient. It took about a week to see a noticeable difference, by week 4 I could see the bottom of the pond.

Excellent UV Sterilizer For The Price
Recently purchased the Jebao 36W UV Light for my pond (April 2016). Got this item due to the fact that I had redesigned, re-dug and expanded my existing koi pond. After the redesign, a significant portion of my new pond would be exposed to direct sunlight for a large portion of the day. As such, I soon experienced a great bloom of green algae, rendering my pond the proverbial pea soup green color. After doing some research i decided on this 36W unit. The unit comes with minimal instructions, so please take the time to inspect your unit and ensure all fittings, o-rings and connections are water tight. I put this 36 watt UV light unit into service, attached to a 4500gph pond pump. My pond contains approximately 10000 gallons of water. All of the pond water is also filtered through a 200gallon bio-filter. This unit, like most other UV light sterilizers/clarifiers, works by exposing the free floating algae organisms in your water to high intensity UV light, effectively killing the algae. I connected the Jebao UV sterllizer to my pond pump using standard 2inch pond tubing. The unit comes with stepped conical shaped tube connectors. I removed the smaller portion of the conical attachment to improve water flow into the UV sterilizer unit. After being in use for only 48 hours, I have noticed a significant reduction of green algae in my pond. After a full week of use, my pond is now absolutely crystal clear....down to a depth of 3.5ft. I plan to use the light constantly (24hrs per day) during the warm summer months. I may reduce the usage time of this UV light during the cooler fall months/season. Please note...this unit is NOT designed to be submerged!!! It also NOT meant to be used during winter months, if you happen to live in an area where temps regularly get below freezing. A great piece of effective equipment for the price. Performs as well or better than much higher price UV sterilizers I have had in the past. I recommend this unit for the serious pond enthusiast.

So Far So Good! Going Strong
I have only had this running for two days so I cannot comment on the durability. More to come later. As far as my first impression... BUY IT. Is it a top end model? nah but you're not paying a top end price. The plastic initially appears to be adequate. I did not have any leaks in any of the connections. I also didn't overtighten them. This unit doesn't handle any real water pressure. The water is just passing through it so resist the urge to crank down the connections. You will crack the plastic and flatten the O ring. I was impressed with how long the power cord was. Though the packaging states the unit can be mounted both horizontally and vertically, I'd recommend mounting it vertically with the water coming in the bottom and then out the top so that all the air is pushed out the top. I initially mounted it horizontally and I could see through the sight window that the unit was only filling about 2/3 the way full because of the air trapped inside. This reduces the amount of water exposed to the UV light and also causes the unit to run a little warm because the top half is not being cooled when mounted horizontally. Once I mounted it vertically all the air was pushed out and the unit stayed cool to the touch. The light was included with the unit and was already mounted. The clips that hold the light in its socket are a little flimsy but was I bent them in a little more it held the light in place fine. Hope this helps.**** update 20170308 *****It's been running nonstop since the day I installed it over 6 months ago. No leaks and no issues with the bulb. Mine is installed on a 120G aquarium. My tank always stays prestine and I have not had one fish death since I installed it. I run the water through the unit pretty slow in hopes that it's killing any pathogens in the water. So far so good. It is ready for a cleaning though.Update: I ow have 2 of these on a 220 gallon tank. I've cleaned both. At first I wasn't sure how to get to the quarts class sleeve but once you take the mounts off, the unit separated into 3 sections and the glass sleeve comes out easily for cleaning. Over night soak in vinegar, a wipe down and its good as new.

WOW this product works better than dumping in algaecide every week!
I was extremely skeptical about using a UV light to clean up green pond water. I had been dumping in smartpond Algaecide Pond Cleaner at $15 a bottle and going through a bottle a week, just to be able to see my fish. Did a lot of research on UV lights and found this Jebao 36W Aquarium Koi Fish Pond UV Light Sterilizer. At a cost less than 2 weeks of liquid pond algaecide I decided to try it.This product is GREAT! Take a look at day 1, note that the pond algaecide was doing an okay job at $15 a week, but not crystal clean and clear. In just 4 DAYS my pond is crystal clear and I couldn't be happier.Using a 800 GPH pump, placed UV after home made Biological filter (doing nothing for the green algae).THINGS TO REMEMBER - make sure you use the rubber gaskets placed correctly on the inlet and outlet ports. Trim off any excess of the ports. I am using 1 inch tubing so I removed the 3/4 inch nipple. I removed enough so that the entire 1 inch nipple was exposed (cutting at the first ridge still left the 3/4 inch blocking the whole 1 inch flow), this made sure that the flow was using the 1 inch opening. I added a Worm Gear Hose Clamp to each port (do not over tighten as you will crack the hard plastic port) over the hose. I opened the light chamber and made sure that the bulb was seated firmly. I think that maybe some of the other reviews that indicated that it stopped working may have been attributed to the fact that light may have vibrated lose during shipping.I do have some moisture around the intake port, but not a real leak. This moisture could be coming down the hose from my home made biological filter, not sure yet.Long story short, THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT my pictures proves that this product works, do not hesitate in getting a crystal clear pond, order today!

I cant believe how well this thing worked!
Let me start by saying this thing is the bomb! I had a little trouble at first connecting the tubing to the connectors. I emailed the supplier and explained the issue I was having. They got back to me very quickly and advised me to put the plastics pond hose in some hot water to make it a little more playable. Well I tried that and still had a little trouble. So what I did was put it in hot water and stuck the end on to the end of my shop vac attachment. (The attachment I used was the cone shape one to get in tight spots. It starts out small and keeps getting larger in diameter) Let me just say that worked GREAT! Put a inch or two of the pond hose in hot water for about 20 secs and then stick the shop vac cone in it. It helped stretch it out perfectly. Anyway, I got it all attached and turned it on. I have a 9-10,000 gal pond. With in a couple days I could see improvement. (My pond was green as a gourd) I have had this pond for 3 years now and have never been able to keep it clean and clear. Well its been 3 weeks and I am able to see almost to the bottom of the deep end. My pond is a 18x36 shallow end is 2 1/2 feet deep and the deep end is around 6 or 7 feet deep. For the size pond I have I should probably use two of these UV lights. How ever, we have a crane problem so I really didn't want it to clear. But to late now. The pond looks beautiful and I enjoy seeing my koi. So if your asking your self does this thing work? The answer is a big fat YES! I will be buying another one of these as a back up or maybe just dig another pond! If your wondering what size pump I'm using it was the 250.00 one from Lowes. Its a couple years old now so I couldn't tell youths gph. Once again I don't know how I ever lived without this thing. Plus.... this is my first ever review of anything I have ever purchased on amazon so I hope I'm doing this right. I wish I could share the before and after pictures of my pond. You wouldn't believe it, I didn't. You won't be disappoint specially if your pond is smaller then mine.

The hose fittings leaked right from the start. I ...
after replacing the leaky screw on o ring connectors with rubber couplings, the leaking stopped. It seems to be doing a great job of clearing up my 2000 gal. pond.
