STEM education is needed.
The Makeblock Nextmaker Coding Kit is an excellent educational tool for kids aged 8-12. It's an engaging way to introduce coding and STEM concepts. The kit offers a variety of projects and free online courses, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. While highly educational, younger kids might require adult assistance for some complex parts. It's an amazing gift for nurturing a child's technical and creative skills.

Good choice to get kids started on coding and programming
Got this for my son and he and his siblings found themselves entertained for the next hours without problems, very engaging set that contains more than 3 activities per box, enough for a time to be entertained and learn about programming.I tried first using a Linux machine... but the interface requires a windows or mac interface, not sure why though... since mostly seems to work through a web interface, true the device has to be connected to the computer to work on the USB port, and maybe that is why a specific driver is needed that is only available in Mac or Windows. You also require an account to be created on their site to start using them, which is in part good for the record of the activities, but not great as a parent who has to manage one more account.Overall the product is great, highly recommended and I think the price is reasonable for all that you get. Not sure if the flexibility of making your own activities varies as you advance on the lessons, but definitely that will be a nice to have, a full playground of commands and choices to make anything you wish, or at least I have not found it, each activity has a set of things that you can use.

Easy to follow instructions/cool learning tool
My oldest son completed a stem program over the summer which cost a lot more than this kit but did a lot of similar projects, only difference being professional assistance and classroom learning. So, I grabbed this kit for him to do with my youngest son at home since he already had some experience. I intended it to be just for them, as a hands-on learning tool, to educate the youngest, but give the oldest some tutoring/teaching experience. My daughter ended up joining the boys because it looked cool. It worked out great. Easy to follow instructions, they didn't require my guidance. And once completed they had some cool toys to play with.

Alright
It's cool but it's a little complicated to use. Once you get it figured out it's pretty easy to do.

Interesting projects, requires an account with nextmaker, not for kids to do alone
This is a good project for tweens or teens interested in coding who have access to the Internet and someone to help them through these projects. To create an account and complete the projects, you will need an adult’s help. This is an enriching alternative to playing online games nonstop, but please be aware there is still an online component. And a parent, or someone who doesn’t mind downloading and installing things onto their devices, will need to assist. This would be a good gift for a teacher or a family that does coding projects together or who has extra time to spend on STEM education.

Perfect for any kid, even the ones who are advanced at STEM, coding, and computers
A little backstory: My 8YO is in a private school that pushes for advancement and focuses on STEM. I fell in love with the technology labs and STEM classes. It’s truly what sold me on the school. My daughter loves programming robots and regularly plays coding simulators. I struggle finding new “toys” to keep her engaged. Let me correct that, affordable “toys”. Of course she would love a commercial grade 3D printer. Eek!This kit is a great resource for hands on learning. It’s perfect for beginners or even more experienced learners.
