Small and fits easily in tight places - easy to recharge
I got this to help keep some filament that I have dry and this dehumidifier stone is the first one I have ever owned. It is small, light, and easy to put almost anywhere. There is a rubber housing around the stone that you remove when you recharge the stone. On one end of the rubber is an indicator that is white when the stone is dry and blue when the stone needs to be recharged. I took a picture of both so you could see the difference. It is easy to recharge - I just put mine in the microwave for 5 minutes (it says up to 9 minutes) on defrost mode. The first time I did it I put a paper towel around it just to see if I could see the water and it did get the paper towel wet from the steam it released. This is a great little dehumidifier that does not take electricity to run, does not rely on beads, and is very small and compact. The price is a little higher than other small dehumidifiers but if you need something to be out of the way and compact while dehumidifying this is for you.

Jury is out
Hornady is a quality brand - no issues there. I have a medium-sized safe, not overly large but decent capacity, probably big enough to warrant 2-3 of these smaller stones. I just have the one from Vine, which might lead one to believe that it would absorb moisture more quickly and require more frequent drying. I've had it in there for many weeks and the indicator still shows dry. So either I have very little humidity in my safe, or the indicator doesn't work, or the stone doesn't work. I'm inclined to think it's the first option. So I have no issues w/ this item, just haven't seen it do what it is supposed to do for whatever reason.

not convinced
hard to accurately rate this, but I am not convinced that this is working as described. I placed it in a small bathroom and took a shower , the mirror fogged up, and stayed fogged until I wiped it. I will continue to test and update

Dehumidifier stone better for small spaces, like ammo cans.
I put this in my large safe, where I have hygrometers inside and out and the humidity after a few days did not lower at all. The "stone" was not sealed in anyway, other than inside the box when received. However, the indicator on the outside did not technically need a recharge and was "dry" but because it was not vacuum sealed I did the 9 minutes defrost in the microwave anyway. They are right about that sucker being hot out of the microwave. I put it right in the safe after that and didn't notice even one percent difference. It's been 4 days now with no decline of humidity at all. My safe is and was at 52% which is OK. I like it better in the low 40s. It's summer and humid. The inside of my house with ac on is 62-65%. I have other dehumidifying items in the safe, multiple hot rods and some other desiccants. Maybe this helps maintain the level, but it did not decrease the ,% at all.Hornady has great products and thats why I decided to try this out. Almost everything I've ever purchased that's Hornady, including thousands and thousands of rounds of their ammo, has been flawless.I think this would work better in a smaller enclosed space, like a ammo can. Against, I didn't notice any difference is a large safe. My safe is roughly 5ft x 4ft x 3 ftOverall, I would recommend this product but only for very small safes or ammo cans. Many pictures for details of product and packaging.

Working well to absorb moisture in a small 6 long gun safe.
I placed this dehumidifier into a safe that is designed for six long guns. The dehumidifier is very easy to use. When it needs to be recharged all you have to do is microwave it. It has been in the safe for almost two months and is just starting to show the slightest hint of changing from white to very light blue. I have no issues with rust on anything since placing this in the safe. This is much easier to use than the desiccant beads that must be recharged in the oven. This also does not need power like the dehumidification elements I have in other safes. This seems like a great option for small safes based on my experience.

It's hard to tell, but I think it's working as it should.
I can't disprove if it's working, as I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and it hasn't indicated that the stone has absorbed any moisture, because the indicator says that is hasn't, but then again, this is inside of a gun bag which is in a closet, so there's probably not a whole lot of moisture to begin with. Anyway, I think it works but can't honestly recommend it, but I can't discredit it either.

Great dehumidifier stone from Hornady that is easy to use
This dehumidifier stone is a great product from the well known firearm parts retailer Hornady. It is very easy to use and only needs heated in the microwave or oven to dry out after it is full of moisture. There is a window on the side of the stone that based upon the color of either blue or white alerts you to when the stone is fully saturated and needs dried out. I have been needing some form of dehumidification system in my gun safe for a long time and this product will now fulfill that need. It has a rubber silicone sleeve around it with feet on the bottom to keep it elevated off the ground. I have many Hornady reloading products so I am very familiar with the high quality of their products and this one is no exception to that. I highly recommend this product to all firearm owners for dehumidification of their weapons and parts such as mags and scopes.

Perfect for Small Safe
Love how compact this little dehumidifier stone is. Fits perfect in my small gun safe. I'm not sure that humidity is much of a problem for me, but this gives some piece of mind.I like that it's got a nice rubber case, to prevent any issues if it rubs against guns in my safe. And the "wet" indicator is also super nice, so I know when I have to take steps to recharge it.I am hesitant to put something like this in the microwave, but I do like that it's an option. However, I wish that the directions of the oven were printed on the stone (microwave times are included on the stone itself, but oven times/temp are in manual).Very happy to have picked this up!
