Right off the bat: it’s a $20 bat system, so I didn’t expect much to begin with.However, upon receiving and excitedly opening this gem of a bat, I must admit I am in awe of the literary skill the writer for this item showed while promoting it and simultaneously avoiding specifically giving away the material the bat is made of. This word savant defiantly claims that “You can send the pottery wheel set to your family members, friends, classmates, relatives, neighbors, and other people who loves clay and ceramics making, which will bring them much convenience and your relationship will be promoted.” Can you feel your social credit rising?Further,“The pottery clay wheel kit is made of quality material….” (but what is it?)“light in weight” (true)“… and proper in size” (ok, seems to fit my Brent wheel)“… simple to store and portable to carry around” (technically very true)“… can satisfy your handmade clay and ceramic project demands.” (Yeah, I don’t know about that part).WOW. I know you are dying to find out what this amazing reliable waterproof bat system that it’s not easily warped is made of. It’s… styrofoam. Or maybe it’s not exactly styrofoam brand, but it is styrofoam-like. Now, you too can appreciate the word gymnastics that went into this Amazon listing.Full disclosure that I, however, have not used it to build a single cylinder and thus cannot attest to the durability/ effectiveness of this bat system, as I have chosen pottery as a hobby only and I’d rather have $20 rather than have the item disintegrate and pollute my slip with its particles. Hence, must part ways with this product prematurely.Should you decide to give this bat system a try, I can only wish the kiln gods bless you with non-explosive wares.

The media could not be loaded.  I was super excited when my husband gave me this bat system for my birthday. However I will be returning it. First, the holes are about 1/4” off—they don’t line up with the bat pins. Second, the bat pins included have attached wing nuts and nothing above the wheel to slide the bat onto. Also, the bat pins damaged the bat, as it is made out of foam.

The holes don’t fit the batp pin holes. Also, the insert aren’t centered on the bat, so the functional area of the insert is smaller than expected.
