Excellent Product for Old Garage Door Openers!
Unable to find replacement remote controls and wanting an outside keypad for an older garage door motor that still worked great, this product saved the day for us and then also for our neighbor. What a great find! Installed quick and easy on existing wire in garage, worked with no fuss and also can purchase matching remote control buttons. Huge savings to not need to replace entire opener system because remote controls were no longer available for it. Highly recommend this cost effective problem solver!

Works ok, range is short, good value for money
I've had a couple Skylink products before. As with all their other products I've tried, I'm very impressed with how clear the instructions are, and how quick and painless setup was. BUT, as with all their products, this one seems to have the same issue: range is quite poor. One very important tip; if you are having issues with range, MAKE SURE TO UNCURL THE ANTENNA. I think many of the complaints in reviews of poor range are because people don't realize that the antenna needs to be as straight as you can make it. If it flops around and doesn't point straight up, try taping on to the wall in position.I'm sticking with this thing and not returning to Amazon because I think competing products are quite a bit more money. Plus setup was super easy.

A great keypad system for an older Craftsman door opener
Wish I had stumbled on this sooner. This was used on a 1990 Craftsman 1/2 HP door opener with 9, 3 position DIP switches. The number and type of DIP switch is irrelevant as this keypad does not send a wireless signal to the opener but sends a wireless signal to the "Smart Button" receiver that replaces the "doorbell" switch mounted inside the garage. Easy to program and easy to change the default keypad code to the code I wanted. Because this simply activates the door via the direct wire connection already inside the garage, no changes were needed for any of the other remotes that activate the door. Note, the wiring from my opener to the "doorbell" switch had DC current already on it (to power the light in the doorbell switch), so this was able to power the "Smart Button" receiver. If you don't have DC going to your current "doorbell" switch, you'll need a 12VDC plug-in adapter. BTW, the green button on the "Smart Button" is just a switch to manually activate the opener. The "Learn" button is a tiny button on the right side that is used only for the initial programming to sync the keypad to the receiver. The instructions were straight forward was well written. If you have an older opener with a direct wire switch for manually opening the door from inside the garage, this is the solution for you.

Excellent product, BUT needs 12v power adapter to avoid cycling after power outage. SEE UPDATE
I purchased 2 of these sets as I wanted to add keypad accessibility to my two old 1986 Stanley garage door openers for summer use. Much simpler to open garage doors via keypad after bicycling or motorcycling than having to carry a remote fob or keys. My existing opener buttons by my house door already worked fine, and have been replaced by a nicer set of brass illuminated buttons so I did not want to mount these new Receiver buttons near them. Instead I used the alternate mount option of attaching to the opener motor itself. Instead of snipping the end off the quick-clip however, I simply used two short pieces of new wire, clipped those into the quick-clip, and then stripped the ends and attached those new wires to the button connection screws on the door opener. This worked fine except that I experienced the dreaded power outage cycling issue. If power is lost to the opener, when power resumes, the SkyLink receiver cycles the door, so if it was closed, it now opens, or if open, it now closes. I contacted the SkyLink technical dept and spoke to a very nice and helpful technician who had heard of the issue. After conferring with their engineering dept he suggested installing any 12 volt adapter of the correct amperage, minimum 100 mAh. I was skeptical as I didn't understand how a separate power supply would fix the problem if the unit was already receiving power from the door opener connection. SkyLink sells their own 12v adapter but I found a different supplier on Amazon selling a 2-pack (Amazon link: 2packs AC to DC 12V 1A 1000mA 12W Power Supply Adapter for Moen 177565 Barrel Plug 3.51.35mm UL listed FCC ) with the required 3.5mm OD / 1.35mm ID plug, and a 1000 mAh rating. To answer the inevitable question, yes it is ok to use a higher rated Amperage converter, as long as it is still the correct Voltage. Upon connection of these 12v adapters to the SkyLink receiver buttons, I cut power to the opener and the SkyLink button, allowed the power retained by the buttons to bleed off until they no longer flashed, and then resumed the power to both simultaneously. This absolutely fixed the problem. No more cycling. The only thing I can guess is that the power supply from the 12v adapter enters via a different path thru the 12v plug port, rather than backwards via the door opener button connection, so prevents the SkyLink from conducting a power-up cycle. In any case, if you connect in this manner and experience the power-outage problem, this may be your fix. As a secondary benefit, it also appears the range of my units has increase a bit as well. I would have periodic no-function issues with the door opener furthest from my keypad before the 12v adapter was connected, but have not experienced a no-open event since installing the 12v adapters. I'm thoroughly satisfied with this low-cost option to add some convenience to an old set of garage door openers, and recommend this SkyLink product if you're trying to do the same.UPDATE Feb 2021 - One of these Skylink modules only worked properly for a little over 1 year. It still opens the door, but stopped recognizing the separate power source so when power fails, the door started to open on return of power again. I confirmed the power supply is still working, so it is definitely the Skylink module that has failed. Had to remove it as cannot have the door opening unexpectedly after a power outage, especially in winter when garage is heated. My second Skylink is still working fine, but I will be replacing it soon with WiFi/Alexa controlled modules that are now readily available thru Amazon. 2packs AC to DC 12V 1A 1000mA 12W Power Supply Adapter for Moen 177565 Barrel Plug 3.51.35mm UL listed FCC
