I am terribly allergic to mosquitos. I can rarely spend 5 minutes outside without swarms attacking me. We have had a lot of rain this season so far in West Texas and the mosquitos are bad. Am able to enjoy an evening on the back porch with the Thermacell and running. Even the little dog sits in the 15ft barrier and is safe!

I can just feel the mosquitoes licking their teeny little chops when I go outside. They don't seem to bother my husband, but they LOVE me. As soon as my cousin, who works in a sporting goods store, told me about this, I ordered one. Apparently, there is something on those mats the little monsters don't care for, because I have yet to get a bite of any kind once I've set up my Thermacell. I've already gotten replacement mats and canisters so I know I won't run out. There's no smell or odor, and the unit is completely portable. I've even taken it to a get-together at a neighbor's house so the mosquitoes wouldn't get me there. Forget the sprays, just buy a Thermacell!

So I was quite disappointed at first because I couldn’t seem to keep the flame lit, it would start up and quickly fizzle out, assuming it was faulty I was quite upset the first night attempting to use it. A couple days later with a clearer head it occurred to me that it’s a “flame” and flames need oxygen, and I’ve been trying to use it with the lid on. So I kept the lid off and it started working without any problems. Unfortunately nothing in the directions mentions the lid, and the picture on amazon doesn’t show the lid, which is probably where most people’s bad reviews are coming from. So keep the lid off unless storing it somewhere and enjoy!

Love this thing. I get eaten alive, usually and I bought this to try with my friends for an outdoor game night on my patio and i did not get one bug bite. It felt like I was getting touched by the bugs so I was sure, i'd have bites all over me, but I did not have one the next day. Funny enough the next night I went outside for about 5 minutes with my dog and came in and had 3 bites on my arm. So this item really works. I just went and purchased a set of refills because I plan to be outside a lot this summer.

First time this worked great. The pads are supposed to be good for 4 hours so after an hour I turned it off and turned it back on the next day for another hour. Had a rainy spell so several days passed before I turned it on again. NOTHING. Swarms of mosquitoes still there. Put in a new pad and it worked. So the "4 hour pads" are not a cumulative 4 hours of multiple sessions. Once the pad dries out you need to replace it with a new one. It is sold in a sealed foil pouch so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it will dry out and probably not work but the product description saying it is a 4 hour protection should be more clear on that point.If you tend to have long gatherings and will go through the better part of a repellent pad in one session, this is great and I would say 5 stars, at least here in Maine. Just be aware that if you have multiple shorter sessions you will be buying more replacement pads. Also the matched sets of replacement pads and butane will become mismatched and you will end up with a surplus of the butane cartridges because the butane is only consumed when burning.

Love this product and will be buying it for gifts for others! I live in the mountains near a lake and have not been able to find a product that will tackle the crazy amount of mosquitoes and “no see ums” we have during the hot humid summer days. We love sitting outside now that we have this! It takes about 10 minutes after turning the unit on to clear the area of biting bugs. The product is advertised as oderless, maybe I’m super sensitive but I can definitely smell the product working and have to sit a few feet from it to avoid the smell but nobody else smells it and is not bothered by an oder. I love this product

I wish I didn't have to give a rating because I may give the product another chance. I'm one of those people who mosquitoes just love. I was so excited to find a product that didn't entail spraying smelly chemicals all over my body and clothing, resulting in an aftertaste in my mouth and the need for another shower before bed.I read the description of Thermacell, read some reviews, purchased it and began the lighting process. Many attempts later, I had used two mats, was out of fuel and defeated.Figured I'd return it but find out that's not permitted ---Which I do NOT see on the box, the description, or the Thermacell website. In fact, that website says "100% satisfaction guaranteed.....you may return it to us for repair, replacement or refund." I dealt with Amazon so that's where I expect to be able to return it. Have it all packed up to send from Kohls---but can't!After reading some Q&A's, I see some things to try that I MAY have done incorrectly. (Not sure if I left the cap on, didn't listen for hissing to stop after each try) Debating now whether to get more mats and butane (an added expense) or a different unit, and try again. If I do so, it will definitely be from a local retailer where it CAN be returned. So -- I may have gotten a bum unit--or I may have goofed things up. But it's apparent from my experience and others I've been reading about, the directions are not completely clear (esp for the inexperienced butane handlers), and the No Refund policy should be plainly stated.

My only regret is that I didn't order this sooner! I am a mosquito magnet -- they love me. I have had my yard professionally sprayed, used Deet on myself, sat next to our fire pit, etc. I still get covered in mosquito bites and just have to go inside. What can I say, this shield is amazing! First night, loaded the cartridge, turned in on and let in run for ten minutes on the porch. It had rained earlier in the day, so I figured it might be less effective because that usually makes the mosquitoes unbearable! Zero mosquito after we started using it. We also have not had an gnats or annoying little black flying insects which we normally do.

Love it works a treat no need to apply insect repellent which is sticky

No me funciono el aparato , lo pude hacer funcionar una o dos veces por un rato , ya no funciona . Encargue más plaquetas y cartuchos pero ya lo logro que enciendaY ya no lo puedo regresar
