How long does the carafe keep coffee hot? Like steaming hot?

It does do an excellent job of keeping the resulting coffee warm but, you do not want to leave the coffee in the pot because it continues to brew and you will find that second cup of coffee bitter. Better to brew, serve a cup or two and pour the remaining brew in a stainless steel thermos (which has been preheated using hot water) for later consumption. We really like this French Press; it is our "go to" when we have the time to brew over our $2,300 Jura Impressa Automatic Coffee Machine... have had this for 8 years... great coffee but, not as good as a very good French Press like this.

They do wear out eventually. But you can search “French press filter screens” and buy more there are several that come up and this brand is one of them.

Can you make cold brew with this?

I make cold brew with this French Press every morning. Grind my coffee beans, pour cold water in, put in the refrigerator and then wait 12 to 24 hours before pressing. It's a perfect way to make cold brew. The cold brew has a wonderful flavor, I think it tastes a little like chocolate. Not only does it taste great, I save so much money making it myself.
