Approx 8-10mm and tapers to about 2mm. I was worried it would make my feet sit above the heel space of my footwear but I have not found this to be the case in all types shoes, boots etc. Definitely helps with plantar fasciitis which I have in both heels.

I would think so. They would not work with open back shoes but fine with anything else.

Possibly,the heel pads do give a slight lift within the shoe and does assist with the nerve running under the heel to the sole of the foot and also Achilles tendon troubles.Heel pads do cushion the underside of the heel for these complaints. Sciatica generates from the lower back into the leg and if tender under the heel sorbothane pad may assist.
