HP 15 inch Laptop, FHD Display, 12th Generation Intel Core i3-1215U, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, Intel UHD Graphics, Windows 11 Home in S Mode, 15-dy5599nr (2023)

I'm leaving this review mainly just because others have voiced complaints about this laptop being delivered in "S-mode," which prevents users from installing apps that aren't pre-verified by Microsoft. While this would in my opinion indeed be terrible if users were stuck in S-mode, this is not the case at all. IT IS EXTREMELY EASY TO REMOVE S-MODE, and you can find instructions easily by Googling: "Switching out of S mode in Windows" Finally, the laptop itself is fast with its SSD and competent processor. The screen is sharp. It's fairly lightweight. Really, my only complaint is the size of the SSD, but how much storage can one realistically expect for a laptop this affordable? If you're not doing intense gaming or video editing (and maybe even if you are...not sure), then I think this laptop will handle what you need it to do. Very satisfied!

Pretty run of the mill computer. It runs well, charges fast although drains fast. For the price, it works pretty good. It's my everyday computer and it gets the job done. The plastic framing has come loose in a couple of places, but it clicks back in and hasn't caused significant problems. I've had it around 7 months.

I have had this for over a year, it does everything I need it to do, it was not expensive because I just browse the net and do shopping, I use the DuckDuckGo browser so I am not inundated with nonsense.

This laptop leaves much to be desired. I've had screen lighting issues. Laptop does seem to hold alot of files.

Easy to use. Speed it great Good quality laptop, function excellent to me, haven't checked the storage capacity as yet.

I thought by buying a less expensive HP model it would still meet my needs. However, I'm a bit disappointed in the quality. I'm not sure if perhaps I was sent one that was refurbished or previously returned device for the cost of a new device. Some of the keys appear to be worn that some of print on the keys are less visible than others. In addition, it takes a bit to power up. The on/off button is like a second thought and when you tap it on you never really know if it's coming on because it takes so long so you just sit there and wait. I feel like this time HP just said, "Here take this one and deal with it". Disappointing would definitely define this purchase. I see another laptop purchase in the near future and I think I'll try a different brand next time. Just because you offer a less expensive option still over $300 it shouldn't make it an afterthought in quality control. And I will definitely spend a bit more money so I can at least see the keys and not have to wait so long for it to turn on. Update: I Now get an error message warning when I turn it on stating that THE BATTERY DETECTED BY THE LAPTOP IS COUNTERFIT and it states the battery that it detects is not supplied by HP and therefore there could be possible risk or harm using the battery detected. Priceless but at a price.
