## Description

Product Description This usb cable tester is specifically designed to tackle cable clutter, enabling quick identification of various USB cable types. By observing the LED indicators on the test board, users can intuitively determine the number of wire cores and transmission performance How to Test USB Cables? First, toggle the switch to your chosen power supply mode. Next, insert the USB cable into the corresponding USB port, and the LED indicators will light up, indicating the connection status and functionality of the USB cable. Do you have a drawer full of USB cables and want to organize them, but don't know which ones are functional and which ones can be discarded? Now you can use our USB Cable Tester Board, which can easily help you identify the right USB cables. Battery Installation Tip: When inserting the battery, ensure the two yellow metal contacts on the left side of the compartment are properly aligned and not pinned beneath the battery. USB Type-A 3.0 to Micro B 2.0 When GND and VBUS lights are on, it indicates that the USB data cable only has charging functionality USB Type-C 3.0 to USB Type-C 3.0 When all the lights are on (except for one D+ and one D-), it indicates that the USB data cable supports comprehensive functionality, including charging, data transmission, audio, and video transmission.

Review: Value for money cable tester - This USB cable table requires a quick assembly of the case (although you can use it without the case too) but is easy to use and even includes a CR2032 coin-cell battery, although this is optional since you can also power it via a USB-C port if you provide your own cable. This is a simple tester so it just has LED indicators to tell you which connections are active on your cables. This is most useful for quickly checking whether the cable supports data in addition to charging but for more advanced analysis you'll need to look up what the various connection pins mean since this is quite complicated on the newer USB-C and USB3.0 cables compared to the older USB2.0 standards. I like that there is a dedicated USB2.0 Type-A port as well as the USB3.0 Type-A port, this will save on wear and tear of the newer port. There is a good selection of target ports too, mini-USB, micro-USB (2.0 and 3.0 that you often see on external hard drives), Lightning, USB-C and even a chunky USB3.0 Type-B port (often used on external devices like printers and scanners). You can check whether USB3.0 or USB2.0 data speeds are supported by using the tables in the instruction manual to compare which LEDS are lit. This tester won't tell you anything about power capabilities of the cables for charging but there is an indicator LED for the presence of an E-Marker ID chip and some modern devices can use that to determine the performance capabilities for both charging and data. This is a low-cost tester and pretty good value, it does the same as more expensive devices as long as you are happy with interpreting the indicator lights yourself. For a lot more money you can get a colour LCD display and full analysis of both data and charging capabilities but this low-cost device is handy for quickly testing a bunch of old cables. One thing I did miss though was Type-A to Type-A testing since I have quite a few of these cables (often used with my older USB capture cards), however by using a USB-A to USB-C (or micro-USB) adapter I was able to test these cables too, maybe they could include such an adapter in future.
Review: Nice piece of kit to check usb cables - Need small fingers to assemble the case but looks good when complete. Would be good to have a link to more documentation for the 'whys and wherefores' but overall good item

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice piece of kit to check usb cables

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wide connector support, bright LEDs and dual power make cable checks quick
*by A***R on 15 January 2026*

⚡ The box contains a USB cable tester board, a clear plastic cover, fixings, a fitted CR2032 lithium cell, and a small screwdriver. Assembly is straightforward and took only a few minutes. The screwdriver is included but not really required. Peeling the protective backing from the plastic cover takes a little effort, though it does not cause any real difficulty. There are a lot of LEDs here and with the connectors arranged to the sides, the board is sizeable but there is no wasted space. There are clear labels printed on the board itself. 🔌 The tester supports a wide spread of connectors, including USB-C, USB-A, USB-B, Micro USB, Mini USB and Lightning. For me, this breadth is the main strength. Many USB-C cables look identical while behaving very differently, and this board makes it easy to see which internal lines are actually connected. It is a low-power, passive device that simply lights LEDs to show continuity, including the shield, so the results need to be interpreted rather than read as a simple pass or fail. ⚡ Power can come from the supplied CR2032 cell or from an external supply between on a separate USB-C connector, with a physical on/off button for battery use. I like the dual power option, as it keeps the tester flexible on the bench. The LEDs are bright and clear, making it easy to see the status of each pin without straining. 🔌 In use, it has worked well for my main purpose, which is checking whether data paths exist when using chains of adaptors in test setups. It quickly shows whether a cable is charge-only, missing lines, or wired for higher data rates. It is strictly for cable testing and should not be connected to active devices, which is clearly stated. ⚡ At £14.99, it feels like reasonable value against similar cable testers, given the connector coverage and clarity of the LED indicators. Some of the marketing images showing obviously broken cables being tested are unrealistic, but that does not detract from how the product performs in real situations. Long-term durability will depend on how often it is handled, though so far it feels adequate for light to moderate bench use. It does not go back in its box with the plastic shield and stand-off posts in place. ✔️
