Are the straps stitched on or glued on?

I have been using my bag since the beginning of January this year. I've had no problems whatsoever with it to this point. [no seams ripping, wear to the fabric, etc.] Today, the stitching on the strap at the buckle end totally failed. That stitching ripped out completely. The fabric around the seam is still entirely intact. I'm guessing the thread was already worn/frayed & I didn't notice. I believe this is a fault of hard use rather than failed craftsmanship, since I've looked over the rest of the bag closely today and have found no other problems. Despite this, I love the bag, and have no complaints about it's construction. Very well put together, and given how hard I am on purses it's lasted much longer than any others I've used. (And is still in excellent condition other than this one area of stitching!)

A few pictures have shown a red tag on the front. Do the bags now come with an exterior red tag? I have to say, that would ruin the aesthetic for me.

I'm not sure which picture you are referring to but mine did not come with a red tag. On the front above the buckle is the logo on leather. On the side there is a squareish end of the zipper which is also leather. Then there is the handle of the zipper that's leather as well. It's really a nice bag if you like this style. I've had mine for over a year and it still looks great with daily wear.

Would a large planner fit in this?

I would say yes. I think if you didn't have much else in it, a regular notebook could even.
