Works with iMac M3
I purchased the Studio Display version of this product, which appears to be the only version currently available. What arrived is compatible with both the Studio Display and the 24-inch iMac, and I’m pleased to report that it works perfectly with my iMac M3.The back shelf is crafted from aluminum, providing a sturdy and high-quality feel. It mounts securely using plastic clips that fit through the cable pass-through hole, ensuring stability without compromising the aesthetic of my workspace.I’m extremely satisfied with the quality of the shelf—it allows me to expand my Mac’s storage capacity while keeping my external drive neatly organized and off my desk. This setup has not only improved functionality but also enhanced the overall tidiness of my workspace. For reference, the SSD shown in my photo is the LaCie Rugged Mini SSD 4TB. If you’re looking for a sleek, durable, and practical solution for mounting an external drive, I highly recommend this product. This version improves clarity, structure, and flow while keeping all the key details intact.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Who knew a small shelf could bring such big joy? I recently purchased the Twelve South Backpack, and let me tell you, it's like the secret agent of iMac accessories. Designed to pair with my M1 iMac, this nifty little shelf has become my go-to solution for hiding my portable hard drive, which serves as an always-plugged-in Time Machine backup drive. The installation was a breeze, almost as if the shelf and my iMac had been on a few dates and really hit it off. It's discreetly tucked behind the screen, making it virtually invisible. My desk, once a sprawling mess of wires and gadgets, now looks like it could feature in a minimalist design magazine. The Backpack holds my hard drive snugly, without any fear of it playing a game of gravity.Functionality aside, the aesthetic harmony it brings to my workspace is outstanding. There's something immensely satisfying about not seeing the hard drive, yet knowing it's there, working tirelessly. It's like having a silent, efficient assistant who's always got your back (or in this case, your data). Moreover, the build quality is top-notch. It feels sturdy, and the color matches seamlessly with my iMac, making it look like an extension of the computer rather than an add-on. The shelf doesn't wobble or complain, even when I've accidentally nudged it while in a battle with a stubborn USB cable.Sure, it's not the flashiest accessory out there, but its simplicity and functionality make it a standout. It's one of those purchases that you don't know you need until you have it, and then you wonder how you ever managed without it.So, if you're looking for a way to declutter your desk and keep your hard drive out of sight, the Twelve South Backpack might just be your new best friend. Just don't tell your actual best friend – some secrets are worth keeping!

Vey helpful in many ways, but a bit pricey (read why)
This is a very clever, robust shelf that can hold a variety of things: I currently have an external SSD and a small USB power supply on it, with room for more. They don't showcase the pegs that can be placed in any of the holes, which is unfortunate because I think it's a very important and handy part of the design.Speaking of the design, it's just very clever! And the materials are all better and beefier than expected. The company seems to be a legit "cottage" or family type effort, which is awesome. It's a niche-enough product that I think they're safe from overseas copycats, and it really is worth the cost IMO (I always like to reward US individuals with great ideas).I bought this to clear space in back of my trusty old iMac 2016, but as you know, nature abhors a vacuum and my empty desk space is a vacuum for stuff, so there's already other stuff back there (staplers, erasers, a month-old burrito, etc). What I really need is a garage-sized version of this with maybe a staircase or better yet some sort of clever lift for heavy items.Or maybe a large version with, like, a removable staircase and adjustable barbed wire for when my mother-in-law visits?Just some ideas to munch on, Twelve South... you seem to enjoy finding niches to fill, so there's a couple. No need to thank me – just happy that people like you are out there!

Perfect Mac Desktop Accessory
This is the perfect accessory for my Mac M1 desktop computer. I use it to hold my Extreme back up drive. It helps to keep my desk tidy with less devices flopping around my desk

Simple. Works. Looks great.
It’s rare to find myself just in awe of something very simple, but also very practical and useful. This twelvesouth iMac backpack is such a product.Out of the box and installed in minutes. I took care with the clear plastic rings which are affixed to the cable port on the iMac’s stand. They aren’t flimsy, but I could see how being impatient or overzealous may break one or both. Take your time. Work from top to bottom worked for me.The included strap and ties are great. Strap is actually an Apple Watch strap. It could be longer if you intend to backpack more than one device (I’m not). I just wanted my external Time Machine SSD out of the way.My only caveat/complaint is pricing. I do feel it’s a bit steep. Granted, the shelf appears to be made of steel, so… but a quality plastic would probably suffice and shave some dollars off.Regardless, I am having nothing remotely akin to buyer’s remorse. This little gadget is cool and neat and does exactly what it’s advertised for doing.I’m very happy with this purchase.
