Do you get it going and then fill chamber or just to top of chimney?** A: We use a store bought fire starter in the bottom (Kingsford quick light fire starters work really good) and then add small pieces of wood after the flame gets going. Then just keep adding small pieces of wood to keep flam going. **Q: Can you use wood pellets in the Duraflame fire pit? Do you need to modify in order to use wood pellets?** A: No. The pellets will fall through the hole. I’m 90% confident though that a solo stove bonfire pellet adapter will work with this. The smokeless design works flawlessly once you learn how to build the fire right. This is a great side that puts off quite a bit of heat but is also portable enough to take to a tailgate or campsite. Would recommend getting the stand and case for it. Seller was great and quickly shipped it for half the price ($129) of the solo stove ($250). Don’t waste your money on the name brand. This is the same smokeless design and materials. After several fires I highly recommend.
