Super easy to set up!
This was incredibly easy to set up. Took maybe 10 minutes to do my whole garden. Time will tell which setting is best for my plants, but they give many different options so you can vary - mine's set to 5 min every 12 hours, may increase to 10 min every 12 hours due to the summer heat.

A well contained system
We used to use "bulb" self watering systems when we left for extended holidays, and this would be a much better choice. However I have not tried the "indoor" setup, as I am not sure it would work, and it is a bit loud. The system is pretty much self contained. The solar panel is directly attached to the pump, and also an electrode to test water level. Planting that into the soil, and hooking up the mini pipes is all that is necessary. It can then be set to pump for 5, 15, or 20 minutes every 12 our 24 hours.(There are conflicting instructions on the web page, better to ignore them, and just use the manual)So, basically this is for patios without water pipes. For backyards, there are pumps you can attach to the garden hose. For inside the home, this is a bit loud.

Simple to set up plant saving irrigation kit
This was a lifesaver for my container garden this summer. It can be very hot and drying here to the point of exhausting both the plants and myself, for stretches of days. We have sun most of the year so solar will stay charged, and water flowing through this drip irrigation kit year round. Weather and plants need for water will change, so being able to adjust watering frequency by setting the modes is super convenient. This is easy to pull up and reconfigure - I've taken apart the summer irrigation to clean and plan for cooler nights and the winter garden. All the parts you need are included, filter too. I suggest planning the design, laying out the parts, then setting it all up. I have water stored in a barrel inside of a large terracotta planter with a pretty clay lid on top to make this more attractive. Added bonuses are the water stays cool, and lid keeps mosquitos, dirt and detritus out of the water. For gravity - most of my containers are up a little higher, on decorative bricks, etc. Your plants will thank you. I highly recommend this kit and plan to buy kit another to add in for spring.

LOVE!!! Added some info / tips for proper installation and settings
I cannot sing enough praises about this solar irrigation system. It's been working so well for me, I've since purchased 2 more. I have been away from home so much this summer, I'm basically only home on weekends. With this irrigation system, I've been able to keep even my vegetable garden thriving — all I do is fill up the 5 gallon buckets and do some plant care and the rest is auto pilot.Since I've set this up a few times now, I can offer a few tips:• Budget the irrigation parts wisely — I found it helpful to first lay out the blue spikes in the various locations where they need to be, because then I can better guesstimate how much tubing I need to use, and where necessary, move things around to make sure I have enough tubing for the whole run of the project.• You can buy extra irrigation parts on amazon, so you can expand this set if necessary, or just have spare parts in case anything breaks.• The pump doesn't seem to have a check valve, meaning if you put the water destination (e.g. the plant pots) lower than the water source (e.g. the water bucket) the water gravity-feeds and will slowly drip out on it's own because of the water pressure. Ultimately, this can mess with how much your plants are getting watered, so it's best just to keep the water bucket lower than the plant pots.• In my review photos, you'll see I used a clear bucket, don't make this mistake! I got algae in my bucket and was lucky that that didn't mess up the pump system. Use an opaque bucket and lid to prevent algae.• One friend mentioned that the hose was "too narrow" to really water the plants, I haven't found this to be an issue at all. The watering times are 5, 15 or 20 minutes, every 12 or 24 hours. I'm in zone 7 (New York City), and we get pretty intense summers, my plants are getting 5 mins of watering every 12 hours, and even the thirsty plants like cucumbers and bell peppers are doing just great.

Good solar kit
The media could not be loaded. This kit has everything you need to water for a long or short period of time. I’ve only had it for a few months but it has worked great! Sometimes irrigation systems can be intimidating but if you lay out the main hose first, you can make cuts to add the extended hose and water probe and connect to as many plants as there are probes! It works great! Now I have a 50 gal rain barrel that I also ordered from Amazon and put the filter and the probes into the barrel. I attached the solar panel to the side of my deck using given hardware with a drill. It was easy to put the rubber tubing over the ridges and bumps of each connector and I had tubing to spare once I finished. Layout was the easy part for me. However, I lost my directions so I am unable to understand the three modes this thing is supposed to offer. When I turn it on the pump comes on and water begins to pump. When I press the mode button, it changes the option of water frequency with a blue square indicating time selection but the mode button itself it not a color. The timer works. I tried it on both the twelve hour frequency for 5 & 15 minute duration. Same for the 24 hour frequency. Once the pump turned off I noticed that the water was still flowing through the system even though the pump was not running. I believe it has to do with gravity and my rain barrel and the direction of the flow but, it’s something to be aware of when you use this kit. Try it before you leave out of town. Wouldn’t want it to fail. I know this says for short term but I am attempting to use it long term and decided to use a rain barrel. It’s a nice set up and my Hostas and Dahlias are happy. To prevent the over usage of water for my system I have to take the probes and the filter end out of the rain barrel but when I need to water I just pop them back in. It’s worked so far and I have no other complaints.
