Sturdy Tamper 58mm!
I’m absolutely thrilled with the Black Normcore Tamper for espresso! The durability of this tamper is top-notch; it feels solid and sturdy in my hand, which gives me confidence every time I use it. The value for money is incredible—this tamper delivers professional-grade quality at an affordable price, which is perfect for home baristas like me. The packaging was also fantastic, ensuring the tamper arrived safe and sound without any damage. It definitely feels like a high-quality tool and has quickly become a must-have in my espresso setup. I’m so glad I made this purchase and highly recommend it!

Great tamper!
Works very well! Creates a perfect puck - level, ridged and no gaps nor channels anywhere. It helps you to use the correct pressure and create a straight level easily. I can notice an improvement in the espresso, as compared to using the tamper that came with the Breville espresso machine. I like the look of the wooden handle too! I recommend this tamper.

Must have for espresso makers
Comes with three different tension springs and also the best tool for even tamping. It is made out of metal so it is decently heavy and functions really well. I just use one of my brushes to brush off the excess coffee grounds and it fits perfectly on my espresso wooden set up. The design is so that it sits on top of the espresso cup while the spring allows the tamper to go inside the cup, allowing for a even tamping.

Very Well Built
Feels great in the hand, I love the pattern it leaves in the puck and I LOVE how there’s no extra loose grounds left behind like other tamps do (on my La Marzocco 58mm portafilter)My only pain point is it is a little difficult to clean, as little grounds get stuck in the crevice between the spring loaded part that goes into the portafilter and the top that sits on the porta.

Received a used product => Problem solved!!
I was a fan of Normcore products and expected a great experience just like how previous ones were. Very disappointed to receive a used product with coffee grounds all over the place. As kitchenware which is supposed to be clean and food-safe, I cannot tolerate this and will look for other brands.(Update)Shortly after I wrote this review, Normcore contacted me and offered to replace the used product that I initially received. I was really impressed by their customer service. Normcore isn't a company who only cares about famous Youtubers. They listen to real customers who spend hard earned money to buy their products. This tamper is very well made. It compresses the puck perfectly flat and leaves very little coffee grounds on the interior wall of the basket. Night and day difference from the Breville tamper. Titanium coating doesn't 100% eliminate the need of cleaning but it helps. It actually has a different ribbed sidewall compared to non-coated ones. I believe this feature reduces vacuum and prevents the puck to be deformed when lifting the tamper from the basket. Using Normcore v3 WDT and this v4 Tamper, I was able to completely eliminate bottomless portafilter spraying espresso (channeling).Only a minor thing that I would suggest Normcore consider for their v5 tamper development would be the bigger surface at the top of the handle. It would reduce the pressure to the palm.

Beautiful wooden handle and details, awesome mechanism for tamping
An upgrade to the traditional tamper and a gigantic leap from the plastic terror included when you bought your espresso machine. In the box you’ve got your tamper, some extra springs to change the weight/tamping pressure, and a tool to swap the springs out. You also get a nice little rubber base that has mirrored ripples that match the tamper. The Normcore tamper is lighter than my traditional tamper, but the wooden handle does add some light beautiful heft. It’s very easy to use and requires less effort than a traditional tamper. I would recommend this tamper not only for folks who want just the right amount of tamping weight, but also for those who need something easier on your wrist. It’s really much nicer to tamp and requires less strain. You just put it on top of your portafilter, push down and you’ll hear a nice satisfying click when it’s done.I’ve noticed no downsides (or particular benefits) to the ripples the tamper leaves. I will say that grounds can get stuck to the tamper, but it’s very minor and to be expected.Overall a gorgeous and luxe upgrade for your coffee setup that makes your shot pulling routine more pleasant! Highly recommend.
