U-40 Cork Seal - U40-3 - A urethane sealer. Cork Seal is designed to seal the surface of cork rod handles. It prevents the penetration of soils and other foreign matter transferred to the grip area from the fisherman's hands. It enhances that "cork feel." It toughens the cork to aid in the prevention of sloughing and chipping of the cork surface. Cork Seal soaks into the cork and seals in depth. Once it is dry, dirt, grime, salmon egg residue are easily washed off with soap and water.

Best cork seal out there, but a bit pricey
I have several fishing pole with nice cork handles that I want to preserve. Cork will flake under a lot of use and this cork sealant protects the cork from the elements and use. It's easy to use - I use a foam brush to put a light coating to my cork handles, it's thin and if you put too much on it will run and you'll chase it around the handle to keep it from running or dripping off. Dries fast though and the instructions say a single coating is all you need, trying to double coat it the sealant won't penetrate. The sealant actually penetrates with that first coat and the cork particles are sealed together so dirt, fish oils, etc won't penetrate. The sealant slightly darkens cork to a nice patina - I like the color change. Pricewise, it seems a bit higher than I've found advertised elsewhere, just being honest here. I have read that some users will lightly sand the surface of the cork at the end of a fishing season and reapply. One jar of this will last a long long time as it doesn't take a lot to coat a handle. After application and the material dries the cork is still soft and pliable which is why some of us like cork handles right?

Good sealant for cork fishing rod handles
Seals the cork. Easy to apply, has clear instructions, and works. Not much else to say about it.

Great stuff!
Hey, this stuff is great! I purchased for my new hiking sticks and new surf fishing rod. I used on my hiking sticks first. Brush on one single time, wait 24 hours, and good to go. I'm glad I purchased to protect my cork and you should, too. Pic shows before (light cork) and after (darker cork).

Great Product!
I use this on all my cork handle rods including fly-rods and Tenkara rods, and it does an amazing job. It seals great, and one little bottle will do a lot of rods. I highly recommend it to fishermen!

Seals fishing rod cork handles.
Your cork handle will absorb one coat. (Do not add a second)When dry, the handle feels the same as an unsealed rod.Dirt and slime are no longer absorbed into the cork so the rod looks cleaner, longer. All the small bits of cork and cork dust that makers use to fill the voids in their cork handles are sealed in!After a few uses an unsealed handle develops pock marks where the fillers have fallen out.A sealed rod remains whole. I've gone years without any pock marks in my sealed handles. Highly recommended!

Must have for cork rods
If you have higher end cork rods or even rods that you want to keep in pristine condition definitely get some cork sealer. Super easy to apply, just a thin coat with a brush and 1 day to cure. It does darker the cork slightly, but as long as you clean the handle with some magic eraser it ends up looking pretty good. I was worried about the u40 changing the feel of the cork .. which it does, but it isn't unpleasant in any way. Buy with confidence.
