This works even with the most minimal amount of sun!
I have bought other versions of the his before, but really like this one best. It picks up sunlight even on thick, overcast days (I live a mile from the ocean, and this time of year we get a lot of overcast mornings). Without fail, every day I walk outside and it is on.Because the panels are glass, it is easy to sanitize (I get a lot of birds) .The sprinkler heads are easy to change - I love the variety of choices, and the sound is calming. This unit has encouraged various birds to linger and call my community home - even when I change the sprinkler head to finest tiny must, it encourages hummingbirds to pause if no other species is visiting. My area is like a busy Arial freeway for various migrating species, and I've placed the fountain close to where I can peek out my kitchen window and see visitors move from the hummingbird feeders and seed feeders to the fountain.it has encouraged nestings from Mourning Doves, sparrows, Robins, hummingbirds to join both the barn owl and screech owls. Even the crows show up and chase off hawks looking for fast food.I'm considering adding a few more fountains to different areas closer to shade, knowing that the closer proximity with trees will encourage more nesters, yet the units will still work beautifully.

Birdbath. There is a metal wire on the left that is for hummingbirds. It is not power cord.
It has worked even on cloudy days. I’ve had the solar birdbath sprayer a week only. Hoping it will last. So far, I am happy. It was simple to install and I don’t need electrical power to install in the garden.

Works well.
Easy to set up. Comes with several nozzles, but most of them will spray water out of your bird bath if there is any wind, so I couldn't use them. There are a few that will work without spraying outside of the bath. I plan on modifying one of the nozzles by drilling the holes larger to see if I can get a lower height of water. I mainly want the fountain for function - helping to keep the water clear and to attract birds, especially humming birds. The unit does work when it is cloudy, which is a plus. Time will tell on durability. It comes with a few replacement filter sponges, which is nice. Overall, a decent fountain.

Works in shade !
The media could not be loaded. I ordered this model in particular because of the battery backup and glass panel. As we know, plastic panels will fog over time causing it to collect less energy and eventually stop working. Glass prevents that. You may have to clean the panel occasionally to remove mineral deposits from water, just as you would your shower doors. #0000 Steel wool will remedy that.It infact does work in shade. My birdbath doesn’t get any direct sunlight until late afternoon. The backup battery held a charge long enough for it to last overnight and until the next day when it’ll receive sun again. It doesn’t work at night in complete darkness, just like any solar panel. It has a sensor so if the water level is low it will shut off automatically preventing dry pumping which will ruin the pump. It’s best to bring this in during winter , unless you have a bird bath warmer, otherwise the water freezing around or inside of it will break the pump.I’m very pleased with my purchase. I hope it lasts for more than one season. Only time will tell.

constant cleaning required
I wish this solar fountain required less maintenance. The small holes for the fountain effect constantly clog. also, you need to make sure that you have direct sunlight. There is very little water movement on an overcast day.

Very Impressive!!! Best I could find.
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: After more days of use, I’ve found that the pump requires more sun than it needed the first day. It pulses with intermittent ejection while not enough solar energy. The first day, it worked well with total overcast and even while snowing after batters run down.Original post: Works with total overcast and snowing after battery totally depleted overnight!!!! I am so surprised at how little amount of solar is required to make this pump work. The unit stopped working in the dark last night after the battery ran out, but the pump is working well with overcast skies and snowing. (See video.) I am using a nozzle that sprays horizontally to avoid any wind blowing a higher fountain of water over the side of the dish. I don’t know how strong a more vertical nozzle would spray with this amount of energy, but this pumps ability to pump this strongly with this weather is incredible. The temperature is 37F now, but I will have to move the pump indoors to protect it when temps approach freezing later today. The plastic tubes on the side do a good job keeping the fountain in the middle of the water bowl. However, the clip attachment is rather weak and can be easily knocked off of the pump base if mishandled. I would be inclined to epoxy the clips to the base if the pump were in a larger dish or a pond where the pump would be bumping on and off its surroundings.I like that the pump has an auto-shutoff if the water source is interrupted by depletion ir filter clogging. By the way, the filter is porous enough that fine debris will nit obstruct it unnecessarily. Extra filters are included and filters are cleanable.I would definitely recommend this battery backed up pump with its centering side tubes over the one sold with the pictured bird bath. The instructions are not the most detailed and are not written in the best English. There is no mention in the instruction booklet of how to best eliminate the air when placing the pump in the water. On the Amazon site, it is mentioned to submerge the pump and rapidly evacuate the air. No further detail is provided. I tilted the pump back and forth and got sufficient air out, at least for the horizontal nozzle to work without interruption. The vertical nozzles were more challenging.Only three securing ground spikes rather than the advertised four spikes were included. That’s not a problem for me though, as I placed a large rock on the pedestal’s base as many suggested, in addition to filling the shaft with gravel. I doubt that the spikes would be sufficient in heavy wind or if a large bird or squirrel were to join the party.I would give this pump 5 stars, except for the shortcomings mentioned in the last two paragraphs. It’s still the best pump that I was able to find and operates impressively.
