Amazing Deal and Amazing Unit
I don't know how I've been able to do my small woodworking projects over the years without a miter saw. This Shopmaster 10" Compound Sliding Miter Saw with Laser was a breeze to set up and made all my cuts crisp and professional looking. A world of possibilities have opened up to me. And the price was unbelievable for all the features.

Laser uses batteries; feels good and smooth.
One reason I'm giving 4 stars : 1) The laser uses batteries and has an independent on/off switch. What's so hard in tapping on the 127V input and then activate the laser with a two step trigger ???Anyway, not sure what happened on Amazon fulfillment as the saw came with the blade guard missing (see pictures). There was even a "Amazon inspected" but someone was probably not doing his work to have missed the blade guard. A call to Amazon customer resulted in a $34 bucks discount so I'll order the blade guard from Delta as this is too clunky to return.Operating the saw feels good as it slides well and doesn't jerk like a regular circular saw. There are locks for the swing arm down, sliding, tilting and it makes easier to transport/move the saw. It is still a bit heavy for "long distances" but that's what it is.The saw can cut a 4x4 (max) with about 1/16 to 1/8 clearance. Yes, it can cut that, just very close. There are hard stops. Just pay attention at the clicks when you turn the "table" away from the zero degrees to 45, or some others..Since the blade is new, it cuts through lumber like the proverbial "hot knife on butter" - it went right through a screw I missed when I cleaned up some lumber. So far, so good, even without the blade guard but it's dangerous to operate it so I'll refrain for a little while more.***** Update: the blade guard came and I installed it; however, zero stars for Delta Machinery for putting out a product and not offering replacement parts. I called customer service and was told the product is "too new and we don't have replacement parts". Turns out that was a partial assessment as the customer rep didn't even bother to check. I had already checked and knew the blade guard was available however, there was no spring and that's the reason I called support. Long story short, I ordered the blade guard online, and went to lowes and bought an off-the-shelf spring and fashioned the blade guard spring. Worked like a charm and I'm quite happy.I used the saw to cut 2x8 to install on subfloor replacement job at my home, it was great and much better than a hand circular saw. I noticed that the dust bag is totally uncooperative. After a day of chopping wood, the bag was still quite flat. The dust collection will work fine with a vacuum attached but it certainly won't fill the bag.

Very nice saw for the money.
It’s not Dewalt, but it doesn’t cost near what a Dewalt does. If you’re cutting high volumes every day, I’d say spend more money. But for the average wood workers shop, it’s a good purchase. I’d recommend it. The only thing I’d suggest is buy a higher tooth count blade. The 24 count blade that comes with the saw is pretty rough if you’re not very careful.

Super easy to use and exact cuts too.
I wants to put up shiplap in my house and not have to pay someone a ton of money. This came in really handy! I have NEVER USED A SAW BEFORE AND THIS WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL. I am already making a list of things I want my husband to hell with me with now that we have th Wright equipment and we can do it ourselves which is so much better and cheaper in the long run. This saw is spot on and as I said super easy to use.

Decent saw but was missing parts
Got the saw but was missing the carrying handles as well as the blade wrench thankfully it atleast had the clamp it was supposed to come with. Other than the missing parts it seems like a pretty solid miter saw for the price

not a bad saw but dangerous blade
the saw isn't badly built for a beginners and I would normally have given it a 4 star review but the problem is the blade provided had a defective tooth and if the saw had been used this could break off and become a high speed projectile and even cause the entire blade to shatter. contacted Amazon and was given a refund and will replace the blade myself with a quality item (that has been checked for incorrectly bonded teeth) . What makes it worse i used to work for delta's parent company, get your QC worked out guys.

Inexpensive yet a few serious issues
I really struggled with giving this saw a bad review yet.... I don't think its worth the (low) cost. I purchased & received this saw after my Ridgid sliding miter was not fixable. I was sent a full refund from Chervon maker of the saw after 5 years of use. I really like the Ridgid's features and ability to achieve fast setup on difficult cuts. And the lifetime warranty is a winner. I purchased a 7 1/4" battery powered sliding miter saw with the refund... And I discovered I needed to make lots of 12" miter cuts on my latest project so I decided to buy the Delta Shopmaster. Benefits I see with the Shopmaster include: . Relatively inexpensive . Good reviews . Light weight Serious product issues I see include: . VERY loud - except for my CNC machine this is the loudest tool in my shop! It is louder then my 13"planer???? . Dust collection is poor at best - the collection port in my setup is connected up to a 5 1/2hp shop vac and the saw still throws saw dust everywhere when cutting . No blade motor brake - Yikes!!! This is a safety issue. Overall, the saw cuts well with a good blade, yet the issues are making me looking for alternatives when I need its capability. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SAW. And I would not buy it if I had the decision to do over.

Good saw for my use
Works good for my use. I am not a contractor that uses it every day. The light burned out after about 10 minutes of use.
