Welcome to Holmfirth, a breathtakingly beautiful village in the heart of the Holme Valley, home to our favourite idiosyncratic retired gentlemen. As they amble about the countryside, these unlikely lads are now enjoying a mischievous second childhood, devising and executing a multitude of (grey) hare-brained schemes. Which is just what you'd expect from Britain's oldest, if not wisest adolescents, and their equally eccentric fellow townspeople. Helped by a supporting band of formidable wives, hen-pecked husbands, sexually-charged mistresses, inventors, pigeon fanciers and balding lotharios, our three heroes are never far from one adventure or another. It'll end in trouble - especially when the formidable Nora Batty finds out.

A great collection, a great show, at a great price! Buy it!
I've been a fan of Summer Wine for many years and, when our local PBS station finally dropped the reruns I was devestated. Look! Life without the boys would be intolerable so I've been on the lookout for reasonable prices for the individual seasons. Suffice it to say; here in the US prices are through the roof and so I've watched Amazon in the UK in hopes of getting a few seasons at a good price. Then, a couple weeks ago, I came across this complete collection at a fantastic price and I ordered it immediately.I received the package quickly, as always, and began reviewing the episodes on my old Oppo multi-region DVD player, hoping the image quality would be better than the sorry picture we usually received on PBS.I'm elated to report that the image quality, while certainly not HD, is quite good and far better than PBS. I watch on a 75" HDTV and, of course, bad quality will be glaringly obvious but, in this case, the episodes are completely "watchable."I'd be less than truthful if I didn't add that the packaging of this huge collection is terrible! References to individual episodes don't exist and the discs are merely labeled Season 1 & 2, and so on. Finding favorite episodes is a nightmare! Still, for the price I paid I can't complain.I've purchased many complete sets of older show from Amazon UK, such as Morse, Sherlock Holmes, Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister, Poirot, Marple, and all have had great image quality and fantastic pricing. Still, Summer Wine is the collection I've lusted after the longest. And now it's mine and I can watch any episode whenever I want. I'm a happy viewer!

A stunning nostalgic journey
I've loved last of the summer wine ever since I was a child, and it started over a decade before I was born, but now I have this wonderful collection to see all the fun and laughter that I had previously missed, I love all the characters from the cheeky Bill 'Compo' Siminite, to lovely Norman 'Cleggy' Clegg, and the retired army officer Foggy Dewhurst, to the fun couple Ivy and Sid who run the local café, to Wesley pegden the local 'mechanic' and the downright dowdy but very formidable Nora Batty and her tiny briw beaten husband Wally who's love of keeping pigeons regularly drives Nora mad. They amble along amiably through the wonderful Yorkshire countryside, it's not to be missed. Last of the summer wine will go down in history as one of the many great television series ever produced by the BBC. I very highly recommend this for all ages, kick back and relax have a cup of tea and join compo and pals for fun filled adventures you're never likely to forget! Enjoy 🥰

We all need a little "Compo" in our lives...
I love this series! I live in America and first watched a few episodes of Last of the Summer Wine back in the late 90's. Unfortunately, here in America it is not always easy to find episodes to watch. Also, it is not easy to purchase the dvd's. Amazon America offers some and I could also find dvd's and the complete series on Ebay, but they were very expensive. So, I thought I would check Amazon UK....and I am happy I did. This wonderful "complete" series was in stock and ready to ship at a reasonable price. It only took about three days to arrive in Texas, which still amazes me, and I could not be happier. I no longer have to scrounge around looking for low quality episodes on YouTube. I even bought a region 2 dvd player strictly for Last of the Summer Wine. I think in this day and age we can all use a little "Compo" in our lives after a long stressful day of work. This series is wonderful. The only negative aspect about this particular series package is the lack of some sort of episode listing. The dvd's are numbered, but the episodes are not even printed on the exterior of the dvd itself. There is a episode menu when you play a dvd, but be aware, at first there only looks like a few episodes are on each dvd. You need to scroll down the menu to find the next page which usually has two or three additional episodes listed. All in all though this set completely satisfies my needs and I am extremely happy!

The complete series. It is what it is. Great comedy
The complete series of Last Of The Summer Wine. The video quality is as good as you'll get. I've watched documentaries about this show and season after season the producer was committed to the highest quality filming available at the time.No-one has tried to upgrade this to HD so the early episodes are a little grainy but not a problem if you are a fan of the series then buy this. This is a 5 star series but the set suffers from 2 issues. The box/ packaging that houses the discs is awfull. I've bought many scheap n nasty boxed sets of DVD's but the system here is bad. It's a pain trying to find the next disc in the series.Next up is the "Intros".For the first few series you have to endure 4 different production companies promotions "BBC", "Universal" and a couple of other maggots shoe horning into the set. Eventually it calms down and you only have to skip through one intro.Having said all that, if you want to watch Last of the Summer Wine then buy this

One of the best
Last of the Summer Wine is one of a kind and this box set is worthy of adding to anyone's collection. Over the years I have missed episodes so now I can watch them from the early years with Michael Bates through to the final episode in 2010. A masterpiece of creative writing by Roy Clarke and the superb comedy acting of all the regulars cast and guest artistes you will laugh and laugh. The older you get (I'm 68) the older you appreciate the need for a second childhood.
