I recently bought the JPT 18V brushless cordless impact drill, mainly for portable use on small projects like woodwork, metal drilling, and working on bikes or DIY builds. I already have a heavy-duty corded Bosch hammer drill and a small electric screwdriver, so I wanted something in between — a compact tool that’s still powerful and versatile enough for tougher jobs when needed.To my surprise, this drill performed better than expected. I was actually able to drill an 8mm hole through a 6 to 7mm thick heat-treated reinforced steel plate, which is not something most budget cordless drills can handle. It didn’t stall or heat up too quickly, and the torque felt strong and consistent. The claimed 60Nm torque seems pretty close to reality based on what I tested.The drill comes with two 1.5Ah batteries, which is very useful because you can swap one out while charging the other. Runtime is decent for short to medium tasks, though a higher-capacity battery would obviously last longer. For the kind of work I do, this setup is more than enough. The brushless motor feels efficient, and the tool doesn’t get too hot even under load.It has 35 clutch settings, which are great for precision when driving screws. There are three modes — screwdriving, drilling, and hammer — and the drill also features a two-speed gearbox and a built-in LED light for working in darker areas.
