Must have for de-stringing a piano
Works perfectly! Remove all the tuning pins in a full size upright piano in about an hour. That would have taken many, many, hours of hard physical labor to accomplish without this tapered socket designed for the job. Well worth the money, however I think it is a bit on the pricey side considering I'll only use it once. If I were in the business of disposing of old pianos, well then it would be a bargain! That said no regrets, saved a lot of hard work!

Solid and sturdy!
Sturdy little work horse. Has been used to remove hundreds of strings with no sign of wearing down or becoming stripped. Even with REALLY tight ones that give our tools trouble. Just make sure to see some YT videos about skipping strings (if removing them). There's 10s of thousands of lbs of pressure, and I thought "it's probably rare that the harp breaks and the whole piano explodes" but after pulling about SIX of them, I started to hear some 'movement' sounds and I've done the skipping method ever since, very safely. At first, I thought it was expensive. But with how strong it has held with some of those bolts being "blue-hot" by the time it gets out, I'm very impressed with its durability and find this to be an excellent value.

The more important tool for the job
I rebuilt an entire piano harper with just the one tool. I would suggest buying two if you are trying to do all of the strings. This is a difficult form factor and easy to mess up if you dont hold the drill steady with good pressure. 100% did the job I needed it to and sooooooo much better than doing it by hand.

HUGE timesaver
De-stringing a 120 year-old upright grand piano was trivial and safe with this tool. Fit the pegs exactly and an 18-volt cordless drill made the task fast. Very high quality as well. Highly recommend.

Makes fast work of a piano teardown!
I am tearing down an old upright piano to strip the innards and install a modern electronic keyboard. Which means taking out the big metal harp frame. Taking out all the screws that holds it in does not unleash it. Every tuning peg needs to be removed, every single one of them. Twisting them out with a vice grip is horrible, and I can only make it through three or so before giving up for several days. Then I found this tool. What a gift! Within an hour I had all of the pegs, over 8 pounds of them, out, freeing up the harp frame. So now I can move on with the rebuild, after a year of stalling out from the frustration. This tool is wonderful!

Did the job
The socket worked as advertised, good quality, and arrived on time. I thought it was a little expensive compared to other sockets, but this is the one that did the job.

Pricey but works great
Used a Ryobi hammer drill (the bit did not fit my impact driver) to remove the pins from an old stand up piano. Very fast and easy - this bit fit the pins perfectly.
