Trumpeter1:32 - Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3

I normally build Revell or Airfix kits so, given the reputation of Trumpeter kits, I kinda expected that this BF109 would build itself - of course, no model would be complete without a challenge or two.There are a lot of parts to this kit, including some nice photo etch. The quality of the parts and the recessed surface detail is really good. The parts generally fit together well, and the instructions are reasonably easy to follow. The molding of the canopy parts left a little to be desired, although they are clear enough and fit really well. The decals were fantastic with lots of great options. They laid down really nicely when used in conjunction with Humbrol Decal Fix, easily conforming to the surface of the plane, with no silvering.Looking at some of the downsides...A lot of the parts you build are hidden once the model is completed - so look through the instructions to make sure you're not building a part that no one will ever see.The fuselage fit was not great - the edges of the two fuselage halves are a little wavy, and needed a bit of work and a fair bit of filling.The undercarriage fit is not great. It's a little wobbly, and took some care and attention to achieve the correct angles.Overall, the good points of this kit vastly outweigh the little niggles - although I was disappointed with the fuselage fit.I'd recommend you give this a try

Brilliant kit Im a big fan of these larger scale aircraft and this is my first go at a trumpeter kit. Fits together well painting colour guide is very useful. Instructions are a bit vaque but if you have been been modeling for a while then thats no biggy. Good price and delivered quickly. My only bad comment would be that the picture on the box is of a later version of this aircrafts colour scheme. So the white spinner and decals on the box art arnt supplied the kit has a back green spinner and slighty different decals that being said if you not that bothered by accuracy then who cares. Would recomend the vallejo early Luftwaffe paint set it has all the colours you need and they spray very well with no need to thin them. very good kit enjoyed building it and looks fantastic.

It is a old kit with inaccuracies and a mixture of good and bad fits, but good value for the money.

second model purchased in this scale, very good & accurate kit of a early fighter used in the 'Battle of Britain'. Highly rated by enthusiasts. recommended.

A fiddler build required alterations to get it all to fit but paint nicely

Probably one of the best model kits you can buy.
