Tank's Horticultural Pumice 16qt - 15lbs

I love pumice much more than perlite, for the fact that it is much more sustainable, and eco-friendly, then perlite . Pumic doesn’t have as large of a carbon footprint as perlite being it is a natural mi real and not manufactured and it goes back into the ground the same as it came out.It is reusable. I have microwaved it in a bowl of water until it is boiling and also added a bit of bleach to the water. Let it thoroughly air dry and then bake it in the oven and low temperature until it is hot and then you can cool it and reuse it in plants as a soil medium. I also find that it has a lot better structure to the soil and doesn’t compact like perlite can. How bad air pockets and excellent drainage. It also holds more moisture than perlite does, but without making the plants soggy, because the rock itself is very porous. I find my plants have bigger, healthier roots when grown in pumice and it doesn’t stick to the roots like perlite and Peat Moss can do. This was a great size for all of my philodendron and newly rooted plants!
