Chic and Shady
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought this for my 12’x8’ balcony. I get lots of morning/afternoon sun that was killing a couple of my plants and making it uncomfortable to enjoy my balcony in the AZ summer. We aren’t allowed to put up curtains on the balcony at our apartment so this was the next best alternative. I love that this doesn’t take up extra space on the ground by needing a base- this holds up well on the bars. It’s aesthetically pleasing, it matches perfectly with the balcony colors, the price was right and very pleased with it. I am not sure about wind or pressure during major storms so I will be sure to just close the umbrella (probably safer do that anyway.) overall it is very sturdy and not cheap looking. When I received the package I was excited to put it together. I was very confused to see the parts that came with it. It didn’t look like any of the other items I saw on the site or from the reviews which confused the heck out of me. Maybe it’s a different vendor or they updated the product design for balconies. I had to look for competitors who eventually had the same product I owned that cost more but it helped me figure out how to set this thing up! Either way, I was disappointed with what I received cause event the instructions confused the heck out of me. Eventually after about 45-50 minutes we figured out how to maneuver the device to make it work. I do recommend having power tools to make the screws tight. The screws stick out a bit from the outside but it may be to adjust to different types of balcony bar widths I’m guessing. Once this was set up my husband and I were very pleased so I do recommend getting one for your condo/ apartment!

Better than an umbrella!
This is a spectacular product with its ability to rotate 360 degrees to block sun at any angle. Unfortunately, is is too big for my small apartment balcony, but it is exaxtly the kind of sun shade I need. I was so excited to find it and now equally disappointed to have to return it. You won't be disappointed with function, form or operation Well made, easy to use. Better than an umbrella because it's adjustable!

Lean Mean Shade Machine
Perfect for my apartment's 5'x12' balcony. Providing me shade while I read in my chair in the morning. Not bulky like a traditional umbrella type shade. Easy to put up & take down.

Doesn't last long.
Initially it is/was a great umbrella to block the sun from our back porch. Unfortunately after two summers only of use, being put up daily and taken down each night and in storms or strong winds, the umbrella has now torn at the top. Also, over time, the stem and ball allowing adjustments has gotten too slippery cause the umbrella itself to move too easily with the slight wind. we have tried various ways to keep it in place, but it as though the ability to tighten it has basically stripped limiting the tiltability. as a result, while it works, the cost for a mere 8 months or so of use...with indoor storage in off seasons makes it difficult to give it more stars.

Perfect for small patio areas
Looking quite awhile for an umbrella like this to block the horrific late afternoon desert sun. This umbrella sports an amazingly adjustable mechanism for finding just the right angle to do just that. Opening and closing are a snap—absolutely easy after a couple of times getting the hang of it. Doesn’t blow around in the wind any more than any other umbrella. Overall, seems very sturdy despite the substandard pole radius—which, while sturdy, does not seat well in standard umbrella bases. This, plus the fact that the first unit we ordered lacked stitching on one of the spoke sleeves (quality control?), are the only reasons for knocking off a star. Otherwise very pleased with this extremely versatile little umbrella.

LIGHT WEIGHT EASY TO MANAGE
It is very windy where this is. It held up to heavy winds. I put a cane stopper on the bottom to make it stick in the stand more solid. It is a bit small compared to a patio umbrella so it does not block the sun as much. However it is much easier to manage it and it does much better in wind. I love the look of it.
