Aisling: A Spell Unbinding

5 stars forever!!!!
The intensity in everyone’s gaze throughout this entire book was going to put me on my ass! We were left on a massive cliffhanger and our hearts exposed that is literally right where we start off on this second book.I was twisting and squirming reading through the first half. There is just tons of emotion and heart placed into the writing so behind each… situation (I don’t like to write reviews that include spoilers)… it’s hard not to push through and go through this journey with Aisling and Lir in one solid reading session. You are guaranteed answers behind each adventure no matter how large or small they are written and that’s what makes the mystery presented so juicy and flavorful in this series. There was a specific scene that was written and it but so much weight in how Lir stared after Aisling well after she left the room…. THE WAY IT WAS WRITTEN MADE ME FEEL SO DANG MUCH. FOR LIR, FOR AISLING AND FOR THE REALM. IM JUST BLOWN AWAY A BOOK COULD EXIST LIKE THIS.“The taste of something forbidden staining her tongue and wetting her appetite.”

Not a Standalone
The author does an amazing job of setting the scene. The descriptions of the various settings were gorgeous and richly detailed. I could easily picture them in my mind. The characters are complex and passionate. (We finally get the spicy scene we’ve all been waiting for since the beginning of book one!) And the story carries you along with plenty of action to keep you engaged. My only complaint is really a me problem, and I hesitate to even call it a complaint. But I should have reread book 1 before attempting book 2. This one is definitely not a stand-alone, and there was so much of the character’s motivations that I was lost on because it had been so long since I read book 1 that I couldn’t remember their reasoning. But again. That’s on me. I will definitely need to do a reread before I read book 3! Overall I really liked it. The fae world is rich in detail and the story was very exciting. Definitely check this one out!I received an advance review copy of this book from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blown Away! So Good
I first want to thank the author for writing a book that took me away from this world and completely put me in another world. That is everything I want a book to be, somewhere I can get lost for a while in a good way. This was so good and I'm so happy I found it. It's a series, so read book 1 before this. I am a huge fan of ACOTR, Emma Hamm, Plated Prisoner and those type books. I put this right up there with those.

Even better than the 1st!
A true enemies to lovers story where there is no clear line of right and wrong, good or evil. This is how your write wild fae steeped in Celtic lore!

Overall an ok follow up
The first book is phenomenal, 5 stars. This is really just an ok follow up, which makes it harder that this wasn’t very good. The things that do well in this book is that the main couple Finally gets together for real (at the VERY end of the book), we get to travel to another fae land (winter) and get some lovely descriptions of the land and people there), the magic situation for the main character gets figured out -so a big mystery from book 1 is solved, we get into Lir’s perspective more which is very interesting, and we get a brief glimpse at the mountain court during a witchy time so we get to see the long dead couple that started the drama. We also get to see more perspectives on fate and the gods, which has caused me to wonder how involved with the curse the gods are - maybe other fae queens and kings at that time were more responsible for it? Also, there are really believable stakes in the story, so it stays interesting overall. I love the Not So Mortal queen finally at the end of the book being like, f mortals, let’s kill them and protect the fae, because we don’t see a lot of that on the genre, and I think if I done well it would be so interesting. The fae are also down really well, very otherworldly, predator vibes. What I didn’t like about this book is how the love triangle was done - it was sloppy and all over the place, from the Aislings perspective in particular. I got so annoyed reading about her knotty/corded stomach over and over. Her defense of humans and constantly not wanting to kill them (even if they deserve it) was really annoying. The fact that Aisling can’t have an honest convo with Lir about her feelings was so, so frustrating since they spent so much time together. The fact that it seems like she was accepting their bond at times, especially at the end of book one, and then this whole book like every 5 pages we had to be reminded that she “hates” him. Like if we had forgot they have a complicated relationship, and need a constant reminder. Aisling is extremely selfish and her only personality trait is that she is angry and likes to be difficult to everyone she is around. There is so much time on the page dedicated to repeated internal feelings, when that space could have been used to develop friendships and relationships, maybe have some light hearted fun. It’s supposed to be an adventure they are on, even if perilous, but it stays SO gloomy and that makes it a bit of an unpleasant read. She really doesn’t seem to care about anyone or try to make any of relationships better, except with her POS family that sold her and expected her to be slaughtered, they keep betraying her, and then at the end with MORE betrayal, she spares them again. The writing was rather a mess too, at times too spread out and boring, other so rushed you can’t even get to know the scene. With a more organized plot and a better editor, this could be another five star for the series.

It’s a true fantasy
This book was good! I’m giving it four stars only because there were some editing errors where capitalization was missed and a few other things here and there. Im hoping in book two we get to know Aisling more and that she gets more developed. I’m loving the story so far and I will be ordering the next book soon!
