Bruce marries the theory with the chords, etc. He clearly demonstrates how to play the entire neck of the uke. He has written many books and I have found them all to be the best that I have come across as a beginner/intermediate player. **Q: Any reason you couldn't tune the D (low D) string to high D?** A: Don't do it. You will ruin the strings or warp the fretboard, or both. Only use strings made for the instrument you are using tuned to the pitch they are designed for. Even something as seemingly harmless as putting steel strings on a guitar made for nylon strings can cause ireparable harm to your instrument even if you tune it the same. If you want a high D, try finding a high D set. **Q: Is it possible for a ukelele to have just one fret that creates a nasty buzzing sound?** A: Well, I'm late to the party, lol. Cello and bass players sometimes use very tiny bits of very flat, thin leather or some such. Loosen the string enough to get a bit under it, assuming it'll slide forward some as you tighten.
