We purchased 3 of these at the same time we purchased a Bachmann train set for our son. He loves putting his Hot Wheels in these as the trains rolls by. They are very compatible with the train set we bought and a nice feature. You could put a lot of fun things in these or leave them empty. Trains are fun for all ages!

Steel wheels, solid car. It travels on the rails well, not falling over because it's so light like some of the lighter rolling stock.
