This is much better than the standard cleaning mats I've used.One side is durable canvas fabric that doesn't snag on the old wooden shooting bench top, the other is padded and quilted with a very soft absorbent flannel fabric. The stitching appears strong. It folds into three sections and fits perfectly in my rifle cases or my medium size range bag. It's long enough for most rifles and shotguns.The only thing I can think of that I would do to improve it is that I would make it just a little bit wider and put a strap on it to make it stay closed and for carrying it around or hanging it on a hook.Overall, I would highly recommend this to protect your weapon while at the range to lay it on shooting benches or on the ground and also at home to clean your weapons on. It's so nice though that if you're going to use it when cleaning your weapons I'd lay a towel or rag on it to keep it nice. It has other uses too; I keep it in my SUV and use it for a cushion to sit on the bleachers at the stadium! It's a lot better than my vinyl covered stadium pad and warmer too! I'm ordering a second one to sit on when I use the shooting bench. It's great for sitting on in the tree stand while hunting too! It's lightweight and doesn't add much weight if you carry it in your rifle case, range bag or backpack. Makes a great gift too.

This is without a doubt the thickest of cleaning pads I've come across. Soft flannel on inside and canvas on the outside. You have expensive guns don't clean them on a thin cheap pad and take a chance of nicking or scraping a fine stock or barrel. I fond Boyt products to be well thought out and well made and worth the money.

This mat is great for cleaning guns and keeping your surfaces clear of oil or solvent. The mat has plenty of space for a rifle or handgun and the padding is thick enough to not have to worry about scratching up the table surface either.It folds up pretty small and goes into my gun bag easily for storage. The coloring of the mat is great too to hide dirt or spills of oil, etc.I would definitely buy again and have recommended this to my friends and family.

If you have been searching for a solid pad, this is the one for you! I spent plenty of time looking at the plethora of plastic-backed felt cleaning pads, and while any of them would work for a while, none are as sturdy as this.Pros:-Sturdy: The sewing is solid, won;t fall apart anytime soon.-Strong Fabric: What's this? A company that takes enough pride in their products to use heavy material? Amazing! Seriously though, one side is strong canvas while the other is an equally strong but softer material, which protects your table AND valuables from scratches.-Highly washable: All of those flimsy felt pads on this site claim to be washable, but that's doubtful. I'm pretty sure this thing would still hold up if you ran it with a washload full of stones.Considerations: For use as a regular cleaning pad this would work in a pinch, but it looks so nice that you may not want to use this to clean heavy cosmoline dipped items for fear of getting it greasy.

I use this mat for the cleaning of my rifels and handguns. I must say I really like this design. The product reminds me of when I was a young boy, and would clean guns with my father; you see we had "borrowed" some of the old Bekin's Moving Co's moving blankets in our move, and used these blankets for just about anything "outdoorsy". The material is soft and forgiving, as well as strong and absorbent. No puddling of oil or solvents. In fact, this is my secound mat; seems I put my mat in a pile my wife was saving for donation, and yes, it got donated. Great product, good company, well made. I would buy it again (and may have to if my wife donates another).

Gun cleaning pad ? Ehhh, I suppose you could but that's not why I purchased this. My purpose is something to lay on the bench at the range to keep my rifle and/or pistols on.Tired of all the high dollar gun guys with their Zeiss spotting scopes getting all the attention at the range ? Whip this baby out in front of you and the resident gun guru's will give you a subtle, approving nod. They know a man of discerning quality when they see it. I bet they will even ask your advice on working up a hand load for their new target barrel made from rare lunar material brought back in 1969 over a scotch.

I bought 2 Boyt gun counter pads -- one for the Hummer tailgate and one for home. They are a very good value at $25, free shipping and no sales tax. I believe the pads are out of production as Amazon is the only place I could find them for sale. The one thing that would be nice is if the pad had non slip material on the back side. It tends to slide around on the tailgate. Overall, it works well for assembling/disassembling out shotguns.

I bring this to the rifle range with me every time, to rest my rifle on the table without worrying about scratches. It folds in three pieces and fits nicely in my soft rifle case so it's not a burden to take with me on range trips. One side is a tough canvas material that doesn't show scratches, and the other side is a soft fleece material that protects the finish of your gun.
