Much easier with a hammer
Read reviews and took a chance as great price. Was prepared for fiddly construction, did catch my finger once, much easier when I went to town with the hammer- I was worried I would break it but it’s very sturdy and much easier to get the slots together if you line them up and bash it with the hammer.Have spaced shelves out differently to instructions to fit Monster High Doll collection- it hasn’t altered the functionality or sturdiness of the unit. The shelf tops are thin bits of wood/ply wood but they do the job.Ideal for our needs and easier to construct with a hammer! Would buy another unit happily.

Impressively strong unit
Well packaged with all pieces neatly bundled together.I had watched a few YouTube videos on assembly before I bought the unit, so new what to expect. All steel construction, and although thin, the parts are corrugated and folded to add rigidity. There were no strength issues or wobbles once fully assembled. The assembly is the tricky part. The 4 uprights are assembled from the ground up, each level defined by 4 cross-members. You decide the levels yourself to suit. The crossmembers have a pair of tongue shaped flanges on each end. There have to locate into corresponding slots on the uprights. Each flange needs to be inserted into the slot then back out again to ensure proper rigidity. Heh....took a while to master this trick, but once I did, I was away. Like I said, you really need to watch the video which gives a few tips on how to achieve smooth assembly.Took me about an hour, and was real pleased with the finished result.Shelves appear thin, but because they are supported on all 4 sides, not an issue. The edges are prone to chipping, and once they are inserted, not easy to get out! I had to disassemble mine as I wasn't happy with distance between shelves. I also used a heavy rubber mallet to persuade the cross-members into their slots!I would certainly buy this unit again, and there is nothing else on the market that will compete at this price for strength & versatility. Recommended......

When all else fails ...
When all else fails ... read the instructions. Specifically, take note of the sequence of assembly of the components, and look carefully at the illustrated positioning of the shelves, especially the middle one. The shelf spacing isn't quite as versatile as would appear, due to assembly constraints. I'd have liked to add an extra shelf to maximise use of space; I asked Songmics but they couldn't supply one.I found the unit fiddly to assemble but managed on my own, laying it flat on the floor at times. I had no trouble getting the lugs of the shelf supports to pass through both ends of the slots in the uprights; the fit is tight but good. Tools needed: a wooden or rubber mallet to tap components together, and a drill & screwdriver to anchor the unit to the wall for safety (especially with kids around). The unit seems sturdy and well made. The shelf boards are flimsy - 4mm veneered fibreboard (probably MDF not HDF). The veneer on the edges of all the boards was somewhat chipped. I'd be wary of loading 80kg per shelf, but hopefully as a reputable company the necessary sums and tests were done. Similar units from other brands have similar shelf boards. Avoid using in damp areas. So, on the whole, fine for storage; it's functional and neat, but not really attractive for use in a living area.

Sturdy and useful shelving.
Shelving was bought to fit stand alone within a tall cupboard to provide extra storage space. It has to be assembled in 2 halves then attached. Instructions were straight forward to follow. Allow about an hour, and enough space to assemble. Very pleased with stability and quality. Met my requirements. Thinking about buying another set for another cupboard.

Excellent, tough, good value.
Well engineered, high quality product. Bought this as a storage tower for Vinyl Albums. As can be seen, it is perfect for that and holds 120+ LPS. Also room for a smaller sheet lf FoF my boardband hub, etc. You need a hammer, a cloth so you don't bash the shelves and a small screwdriver to open up the slits a little, though easy to put together. Nice wooden shelves too. Looks good. If you go looking for 'Vinyl storage' by name you pay more!! Easy 5 stars.

Absolutely rubbish!
Had other Songmics products that I have been happy with, but these are dreadful. Described as tool free construction, however that is very inaccurate. As soon as you check the instructions you need a mallet and screwdriver. So as an experienced DIY person, I got the requisite tools and tried to put them together. I rapidly discovered that they are very poorly made as the interlocking metal parts are that poorly implemented they randomly bend the connecting pins out in various directions as you knock them into place. Also you end up with little sharp fragments of metal and black coating everywhere while attempting construction. So I quit, never done that with a flat packed item before, requested a return and Songmics couldn't get that right either as the nice woman at the Post Office tried every method they had for accepting Amazon returns to no avail. So this time I gave up and recycled them at the local recycling centre as Songmics obviously should have done upon making this item, I'm just to busy at the moment to bother chasing idiots, more important things to do! Very poor quality, very unhappy customer! Awful customer service on the return!

Quality reflected in the price
This is a decent shelving unit for the price. The shelves were a bit chipped but as it was going in a shed, the looks were not important. It wasn't complicated to assemble, but was fiddly and took longer than I expected (over an hour). It feels sturdy now that its in position, but it felt flimsy moving it from the place it was assembled. The instruction leaflet shows a hammer ans screwdriver and I wasnt quite sure why at first, but the hammer is to make sure each piece is locked in, and the screwdriver is to prize open any tight slots
