We have used it on the table with family who are meat eaters (we are veggie) and put prawns etc on it, it works perfectly, its really attractive and discrete, great on the table and packs away neatly as well. They are so good, I may buy a second one in case my first one breaks and they don't make them anymore. They are pricey, although I paid £100 for mine about 5 years ago and its still going strong. There is little to wear out, the materials are top quality and substantial.The BBQ works by placing charcoal (or briquettes) in a stainless steel bowl, which sits on a heavy steel wire and alloy trivet inside the white porcelain bowl. Light it in the usual way with fluid or firelighters (or you can use 'Chafing Gel' as it has no smoke at all) and don't be in a hurry, it will take a while to reach working temperature. I would allow 30-40 minutes. This can all be done on the table top, but DO NOT use it indoors or in a confined space like a tent.Preferably when the flames have died down, place the grill rack on the steel bowl. There is no side ventilation so no control over the heat. If the rack sits in the flames it can get sooty which may flavour your food.It really is a table top BBQ because even after an hour or two, it is still possible to put your fingers under the porcelain bowl without burning them. In any case it sits on a substantial wooden (bamboo I think) stand which keeps it above any table. You could even use it on a plastic table with no problems. The heavy wire handle allows you to move it (with care) once hot, but obviously after any flames have gone out.Once going, it will last for a couple of hours, but you could always add some more charcoal on the top, but don't add more fluid of course. Don't use very small bits of charcoal as the fire may suffocate for lack of air and go out.It cooks well and is big enough for two people, or three if you aren't that hungry. The usable diameter is about 25cms and its great to have it in the middle of a table and cook away. Try not to sit downwind of it though! It will cook meat of course, fish wrapped in foil and all the usual things, but I wouldnt try anything too big like a whole chicken. I love sliced bread cut into squares, dipped in olive oil and virtually fried on the rack.Cleaning is OK. Be careful when handling the porcelain bowl when wet, its slippery and would break if you dropped it in the sink. The trivet will need a wipe over, the rack a good going over with a steel scourer as will the steel bowl. Stainless steel it may be but it will soon develop a 'used' look which you have to live with. It has not rusted, corroded or deteriorated with use over five years.You can also use the porcelain bowl as a salad bowl too, when its not housing the BBQ.Highly recommended and a stylish piece of kit too. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nice looking portable grill *by B***Y on Reviewed in the United States on 29 December 2015* I purchased this for my husband and he loves it!
