I have gone through more umbrellas than tongue can tell and they have always broken with high winds. So I just typed in quality umbrellas and the first one to come up was the Tumella umbrella. Only used once so far, but seems pretty sturdy - the only thing against it is its size when packed up - it is quite large. However, I guess it's hard to be sturdy and much smaller. Compared to the brollies I was looking at in the high street, this seems good value for money and effective for the non stop Devon rain this winter. Takes a bit of getting used to trying to close it, but so far I'm impressed.

Had the opportunity to use this about two days after it arrived. Kept me dry whilst waiting for a bus while it was quite blustery without any battle to keep it open. It's certainly a lot stronger than my previous umbrella which had to go in the bin when it became next to useless after being blown inside out one time too many. It's easy to open using the button on the handle. This also puts it down but you do have to push the canopy down quite firmly to collapse it down completely, so worth bearing in mind if you're not as strong as you used to be. Once collapsed it's not as compact as some umbrellas I've had but it's fine for keeping in the bottom of my backpack. It has an overall quality feel to it and I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come. It also comes with a lifetime guarantee which is reassuring. Lovely selection of colours and patterns. On the basis of my experience so far I'd be happy to recommend these umbrellas.

Not lightweight at 400g and does blow inside out in strong winds. The difference being with this umbrella is that it’s easy to turn back the right way and no damage results. Really good quality, pretty and as waterproof as any umbrella. Important to remember how to close correctly to keep the mechanism working correctly. Good value for money, sturdy grip. One star removed as 400g is double the 0.49lb stated in description.

I love this umbrella. It’s a good size, strong and I particularly like the lovely design. I have struggled to close it and get it back into its’ sleeve but hopefully this will improve as I get used to it. It’s also rather heavier than my previous umbrellas but I wanted one that was bigger than others and wouldn’t blow inside out. This fulfils these criteria.

I was a tad sceptical about this, but I’ve been totally proven wrong. This umbrella is super sturdy, strong and has coped with some pretty strong wind. Quick to open and easy to fold away and carry. Very impressed and highly recommend.

Described as Strong - Windproof - Compact - Superior - Beautiful. Reality after just two uses in light rain and a very light wind. Strong? Yes, I cannot put it down without wrestling with it, even though I am following the exact instructions. It is without a doubt, the worst umbrella I have ever had with regard to that. Windproof? NO. The slightest touch of wind causes the umbrella to blow inside out. Compact? Yes, if I can put it down to get it back in the bag. Superior? No. I have had much cheaper brollies that work better by miles, and much, much better expensive windproof ones. Beautiful. Yes, I have the one with the flowers on the inside and it is a lovely umbrella to look at. One of the best in fact that I have owned. Other thoughts. Smaller than I expected. Not much cover overhead in the rain. Opens with a touch of the button which is very hard to do. You have to press down really hard. Supposed to close with the touch of a button as well. Yes, but the same as when opening, really hard. Whilst this will close the canopy, it still requires two hands to push it back down (you have to close it together by pressing hard at both ends, which mean your hands get wet if it is raining. Doesn't fit easily back into the outside cover, so if it is wet you need to bring an extra carrier bag to pop it inside as it will make everything else you have with you dripping wet. Do I regret spending almost twenty pounds on this? You bet. Fortunately I have kept the card that came with this umbrella. I shall be contacting the manufacturer with regard to all the claims. I might even ask for my money back! Would I buy it again? NO. UPDATE: After reviewing this umbrella I was contacted by a representative for the seller and offered a full refund, and a replacement Umbrella which was identical to the one I had purchased. The refund and umbrella arrived at lightening speed and throughout this communication I was supported at every opportunity. I used the new Umbrella yesterday in similar conditons for the first time, and was met with the same problems. It is such a shame as the customer service is by far the best I think I have ever received, and the standards are so high, I really wanted to be able to update this and say I had a much better experience. It is really important to me to support a young company, particularly one which is trying so hard to offer the very best product and service. The quality of the materials used and the beautiful appearance of the umbrellas are just two examples of that. My own opinon is that because of the design, this umbrella is less likely to break in the wind so perhaps that is what they meant by the description 'windproof'. It is suitable for a typical wet day, if you don't mind the struggle with putting it back down, as it works in that respect, however, it blows out whenever it encounters a light breeze and this seems to be down to the overall design of the product. Perhaps this just needs a slight adjustment. They are almost there with the quality of the materials and the customer service and ethos of the company. A lifetime guarantee is offered. I am grateful for the support, refund and replacement and wish them well.

Very strong bigger than expected but that's a good thing I'm well protected from the rain beautiful pattern very well made I'm really impressed with this umbrella easy to open and to close nice it came in not only it's cover but also plastic pocket not too heavy and easy to carry pretty happy with this also it was really nice having a letter enclosed guarantee replacement if not satisfied

The umbrella looks nice, feels well built, and easy to use. Have used in sunny, windy, and rainy conditions - does a good job. A tiny amount of water gets through the wind vents under extremely heavy rain, but this can be mitigated by holding the umbrella at a steady angle. So far it's a reasonable compromise considering how well it's holding up during heavy rain and wind.

Very pleased with umbrella. Have used in rain and high winds recently and my umbrella has survived so far!
