I have one of the old-fashioned nesting boxes, but it was challenging to clean and hard to get eggs when the hens turned broody. I love this because the eggs roll down into the covered compartment where they aren’t getting dirty, pecked at, and sat on. The product came with clear instructions and all hardware necessary to assemble, including a screwdriver and a pair of knit gloves. It is sturdy and durable – made of sheet metal for the most part and a very rugged plastic for the bottom of the box/collection area. I took the picture immediately after assembly, but my hens have taken to it readily and it has a nice clean look and feel to it. The nesting area is plenty spacious for my large hens and the dividing wall gives them that calm solitary feel that they seem to like. The side walls have ventilation slots which is also a great plus along with small holes in the tray, so the waste doesn’t build up and make it unsanitary. If need be, I can add straw in the winter and still easily remove the drawers for cleaning.

Update after using for a few days. The plastic trays although they seem sturdy are not. The tray will not stay in the coop and I keep finding eggs on the ground. I am going to have to modify or add something to keep them from sliding out every time my girls get in or out of the box.The directions for putting this thing together is pretty bad. They are very hard to understand as the parts are not labeled and it was very difficult to figure out how the braces went on. It was super frustrating but I was finally able to figure it out. I love everything about it except for that and the cheap plastic trays.

I am very disappointed with these nesting boxes. They are very flimsy and the trays will not stay in position. I check for eggs several times a day, and every time the trays are falling out. I definitely would NOT buy again.

Directions are not easy, nothing is labeled. I got it together in a reasonable time. Wish there was a sold back to it. I had to amended it for my gals.

The boxes don’t stay in. I had to McGyver something to keep them from sliding out The green cover/roost doesn’t stay up, so even through these are lower than a roost some of my hens go in them at night leaving a messInstructions were worse than IKEA!

Just right for my six girls.

Love how they look and the size. However, we had it together and went to put the bottom tray in and there was a broken piece of plastic, now can’t use.
