She is more than just a pretty face. Two souls born in different times collide and make history.
Indiana Bell is the third installment of a trilogy about Professor Bell and his time machine that is capable of transporting people using crystals from his Victorian mansion in Los Angeles from 2016 to 1900. This last episode is the superior to the first volume that I read. This is not only a charming love story but the vehicle of time travel permits the reader to really immerse in a near distant past in a way that is quite unusual. We do not see these people as strangers wearing odd clothes and sporting rather strange hairdos. We see them as people like ourselves who know less than we do about the world and yet deal with your reality with equal if not greater competence. What I find most intriguing is the sense of the people and how they react to the times in which they live. While it is true that in 1925 compared to 2017 the level of technology and economic standard of living is much lower other aspects of life then are quite attractive. One of the great insights that the author has shared with the reader is how intelligent, clever, resourceful, compassionate and loyal our fellow American were in the early 1900s and in the 1920s. For white middle class people the life style, despite the lack of 21st century modern conveniences, is very alluring. The strength of family and relationships that were cultivated far exceed what many of us have today. Of course, our main characters do not lack for cash and cash always makes things easier. However, it is easy to understand how a person from 2017 who has no real ties to 2017 would with great alacrity choose to relocate to an earlier historical period. It's sort of like why some Americans re-settle to some traditional island in the South Seas or some family oriented old fashion country in Latin America or Central Europe. Time travel simply allows one to stay in the USA.The author has a good formula. There is a mission, there is some natural calamity, history is changed and someone it does reverberate back to 2017. There is drama and unexpected twists and turns with a happy and satisfying ending. I highly recommend this novel.

Fun time travel series
I fund the dialogue a little off in this compared to others in the series but I still loved it

Great Time Travel
This is the third book in the American Journey series. This time the author takes us to the Roaring Twenties. You don’t have to read the first two books to read and enjoy this one. They read just like stand-alone books. In this book we are presented with a problem that any time traveler fears. What happens if something can and should be prevented in the past and you know it will change the future if you do anything to change it? This is this situation that faces our main character. Cameron Coelho is completing his dissertation on life and the social implications during the 1920s. He buys the journals of Candice Bell who is a reporter and is murdered. He gets to meet Candice and sparks begin to fly. But what happens when you fall in love with someone and you know the date and manner in which they will die? Do you stop it knowing the possible consequences? In this book we not only get to relish the entire time travel experience, but we get to live vicariously through the author in the time of the 1920s. I love that the author always spends so much time in research s that the reader feels they are a part of the time period. This one is a little different and has some wonderful twists. I highly recommend it and the rest of the series.

Very Entertaining
What a wonderful story that kept me glued to the pages to see what happens next. John Heldt is a great writer in my opinion and I am so glad I discovered him. He has a long list of books that I intend to read and I suspect I will be entrained way into the future. Thank you Mr Heldt. As for you future readers out there I highly recommend him and his time travel romances, they will keep you turning pages well into the night. 5

Fun read
This is a sweet story about a man going back in time to save a young woman he had read about during research. I enjoyed the twists of the story.I felt this story would be perfect for a young teen to read. Even during the crisis scenes every character was still spit shine clean with no grit. As a reader I’m happy with a book that doesn’t have too much language or steam. But I do like characters that really demonstrate the range of emotions and drive.

Enjoyable read, but less historical fiction than prior books
I really enjoyed this book, but less so than the prior two in the series because the story didn’t include as much historical elements. It was also not quite as creative as the other books, although I understand the need to switch up the basic story line that sends characters to the past. I still recommend because the plot holds up well and dialogue flow really well.

Indiana Belle (American Journey Book 3)
Excellent! A time travel story with a definite purpose is very unique and the characters of this time period are what a historical inspired writer would create. A doctoral student Cameron Coelho from Providence RI, receives a package from a 94 year old women Mary in Indiana. Included i. The package are interesting articles, journals and letters from a little known female journalist Candice Bell, who lived during roaring 20's. There are hints of the Bell families discoveries of a cave and the wonders of possible of time travel. Intrigued Cameron consults with an valued retired professor and friend, who then directs Cameron to a Bell family member in California. This starts Cameron on an exciting journey he never thought would be his.

A Wonderful Book
I loved everything about this book. The concept of traveling back in time to study middle America more than 90 years in the past is fascinating. Add to that, perhaps save a life and change history for the better and you have a really interesting read.I'm not completely impartial, since I live in Indiana and was therefore familiar with many of the things mentioned. But anyone from anywhere will enjoy this book and I highly recommend it.
