Rega Apollo CDP CD Player / Transport with Wolfson DAC & Remote

The sound quality is excellent, regardless of price. Do a search and read the Art Dudley review in Stereophile magazine. Build quality seems very solid, and the top-loading design probably improves reliability. I knocked off a star on "material quality" due to the plastic lid, front face and remote, though it's true that these issues are purely cosmetic and fancier material for these parts would boost the price with no sonic improvement. For most people this is a pretty expensive CD player, so avoiding unnecessary costs is appropriate.

Added this to my Rega set up a few years ago and am so frustrated that I'm getting rid of it. Discs often fail to load or skip incessantly, and it's not an issue of floor vibration or faulty CDs. Trading it in for a Pro-Ject DS3, which is about the same size and will fit into my small office set up nicely.

Stopped working twice in four years. The first time it was just under 2 yr warranty. I took it back to the dealer and he charged me to ship to Rega's guy in CA. It died again two years later and the dealer wanted $300 to fix again. I left it there! I would give it no stars but they won't let me.
