Mahabharata: The Great Indian Epic by Sudarshan Ray is a masterful retelling. The author has included flowcharts in the starting chapters which helps the reader understand the lineage easily. It is divided into 6 parts and then into sub-parts. Each chapter is described with details. My favourite part of the book was the battle events. The details and setting is so well described. Author highlights their moral complexities and human struggles, allowing readers to interpret their choices and motivations in their own way. The book explores deep values like dharma, karma, and the inner struggles we all face in life. The aftermath of the Mahabharata is also included in this, which many people aren't unaware of. This book gave me a new perspective of Mahabharata. This book is a must-read for mythology lovers.
