Every toddler dad or new homeowner should have one!
Of the armbar options available, drive fit me best as I wanted a screwdriver and scissors on hand, but the so-so reviews gave me reasons to reconsider. I purchased it and am very glad I did. Its a very nice size, not at all bulky, and even though there is no pocket clip, it fits in the small, coin pocket in the right hand pocket of jeans (see photos). It won't fall out, it doesn't jab me, and its always on my person. If I'm wearing cargo pants, it rides along in a cargo pocket.I've owned it for roughly 10 days and have used it much more than I expected. The screwdriver is a common size and is perfect for changing batteries in toddler toys. I've also used it for tightening electrical outlets and assisting switching out my florescent to LED ballasts in my garage. Even though it doesn't lock, its held in place securely under light to medium duty use. I do enjoy the option to use it at a 90 degree angle if necessary. I feel like this will come in handy working on interior panels in vehicles and other mechanical needs. The magnet has been quite strong and the bit hasn't fell out. It takes a bit of force to pull the bit out to switch it around. The Scissors are also for light duty use but of a better quality than I expected. I've used this to open a bag of apple chips for the kids that my wife couldn't tear open. I havent tried cutting a zip tie yet, but I think it could handle it, along with smaller diameter ropes and paracord. The knife is capable for anything larger. The knife is sharp and locks in place. I really enjoy that I can open it with the side of my thumb rather than a fingernail. The awl is incredibly sharp. I wish I needed this but I never needed to poke holes in leather. However this is sharp enough that it could be used for ripping, tearing, poking, or scoring. A practical use could be opening packages and cutting cardboard for kid's crafts. I had used its very fine tip to scrape detritus out of a tiny gear for my son's toy car. You have to be very careful closing this tool. The pry bar / bottle opener has a satisfying click when opening and closing. I've found myself playing with this feature from time to time. I feel that the edge, although blunt and smooth, may also work as a large size flat head screwdriver. I honestly envision using this pry feature to assist in removing interior panels in vehicles where a larger pry bar may be too large and damage the panel. The hammer feature i havent used yet but should be just right for lightly tapping items into place. Its likely perfect for tapping down paint can lids and nails, such as picture frame or finishing nails that just need a little extra effort.Overall I'm very happy I purchased this tool. It's largely for light and medium duty use but thats exactly why it exists. We have stand alone tools for heavy duty use. It fits my life well as a dad to younger kids and someone who repairs house fixtures and vehicles. Its priced right, feels good in the hand, feels substantial (high quality metal) for its size, yet is is fairly compact. I purchased the orange (gold) color so I dont loose track of it. It feels like it should hold up over time as well.I'd recommend this product for every day carry and for the uses I've mentioned above.

really nice, simplified utility tool
I purchased this for potential cub scout knife. I am not a fan of the swiss army knives. Some brands are amazing some are garbage. Those blades and tools do not lock when opened.the blade locks when opened. the blade is made better with a quality metal that will hold an edge. the swiss army's will not. The lock for the blade could be better. Any teen can do it. an 8-10 year old can not unless they use a tool to help them. (a stick, pencil, marker) they do not have the thumb strength. You need to put your hand infront of the blade and close the blade towards your hand to close. NOT A SMART IDEA! But I get it. it was an option for including a lock open. The awl is sharp. The point is piercing. be careful. I do not know the hardness but if they used a quality steel it could be a scribe. that would be impressive! an awl and a scribe. it will scribe on wood, plastics and soft metal. The double headed screwdriver is nice to have! It too needs a lock on it to stay open or a ball indent that simi locks it in place at different angles! I reached out to Gerber 2 months ago and they have not called or emailed me back! I guess they do not like my ideas. The screw driver has been helpful. alot more helpful than a corkscrew. I can not recall the last time I went camping where I needed a corkscrew! I know in college we needed one but none of us had one so we used a hammer and a screw driver. It worked but that was 20 years ago.The scissors. Those are the best tool on this! i use them frequently! They do open very weird, you have to flip them around. They need to include a feature so the scissors will not push back into the knive containment area. the small piece of bent metal is a joke as it does not work well to prevent that. it does work well as an extra wide handle. Please keep that and make it bigger and add something inside the scissor recess area to prevent it from pushing in!The hammer/ bottle opener is a great fidget device. I find myself opening it and closing it. they both work but the hammer is only for tacks and soft things. It will not drive a large nail into wood but a tack nail into gypsum board.I did buy this for my Bear Scout and one for dad and older sister.

Good minimalist multi-tool
I like my Gerber Armbar Slim Drive tool. It does exactly what any reasonable person would expect from such a tool. It is not a replacement for purpose-built screwdrivers. If you are building furniture, you should be using real tools. The driver on this tool is meant for light tasks (like tightening up drawer pulls, light switches, etc). It is a handy driver, and it works with any 1/4 inch bits including extensions. The driver does not lock, which seems to be a problem for a lot of people. I have not found that to be a problem yet, but I can see how that would be an improvement. The blade is excellent given the price range of this tool. It will meet the needs of any reasonable user, but will require occasional sharpening. I like the size and shape of the blade and find that it is handy for most cutting tasks. Mine came pretty sharp, but was razor sharp after a few strokes on a stone. The blade does lock via an internal spring liner. It is a little stiff right out of the box, but loosens up a bit with use. When comparing this against tools of similar size, price and toolset, such as a (Victorinox Tinker), this tool stacks up well. The blade and driver are superior to what you'll get with a Victorinox SAK.I recommend this tool, but Gerber could make some improvements. A locking driver would be the first thing I would improve. Second, I don't find the bottle opener useful, and it's awkward to use. I'd rather have the awl from the larger Armbar Drive.
