More like a sneaker with great ventilation then it is a standard sandal.
I like that we are starting to see more options from manufactures for vented style foot gear. I’am not a big fan of "water proof/breathable" foot gear. Mostly because even the best material is not breathable, sure the material may vent your perspiration somewhat but very little and at a very slow rate. Also as that lining material gets contaminated with sweat and dirt over time is loses its breathable characteristics. This water proof type of foot gear just cause issues for me with athletes foot or worse toe fungus. So I look for vented style footgear to overcome having sweaty damp feet. This brings us to the “Merrell, Tetrex Crest Wrap Sandal". I’m going to compare this to the previous sandal I had been wearing the “Merrell, All Out Blaze Sieve Water Shoe”. First, the "Merrell Tetrex Crest Wrap” is more like a hybrid sneaker. It has a standard removeble foot liner like most sneakers and traditional laces not stretchy bungy material. I like this feature because the problem with bungy type laces is that they stretch, so when your being active in your sneaker/sandal and cornering a turn or hikeing a incline at a angle the bungy type laces will stretch causing your foot to become unsecured and slide from within the sandal. The removable liner is nice because it can removed for cleaning or drying out, also it feels nicer underfoot then the plastic rubbery feel of some sandals foot bed material. Plus I think the liner material is going to help wick moister out from under your foot verses the hard surface of some sandals that get a clammy feeling. Glad to see Merrell vented over top of toes with a “breathable” (not water proof) neoprene material. From just viewing the pics online I thought it was just mesh material but there is a neoprene material under the mesh. This is great because that was one of the issues I had with the “All Out Blaze Sieve Water Shoe” is it just wasn’t vented enough in the toe area. Overall this sandal/ sneaker has great support and very secure fit due to the traditional lace and number of anchor points. Really it’s more like a sneaker with great ventilation then it is a standard sandal. This is going to be my go to shoe for hiking, running around the yard with the dogs and activities of that nature. Plus it’s a sharp looking design, a win win for me. Hope this helps out.

Fit like a comfortable sandal but look like sneakers
As I am wearing the Merrell Sandals now, they feel light weight. I have a high instep and by loosening the laces slightly, they now fit well on top. It would be nice if they had memory foam but the sole is comfy and is cushioned some. The only comment I have is the laces were too long. I weaved the excess laces in and out of the criss-crossed laces down to the toe and back up to the top knotting the laces with a square knot. Now they are a tight slip on sandal. I'm loving them more and more as I'm already used to having them on my feet. I also have a wide foot and this is not an issue with these Merrell Sandals. Buy and enjoy !!

Running big, and arch support is not good enough
Overall sandals are good. The only problems are insoles and sizing. Sandals do not have enough arch support as most of Merrell products are. I had to change insoles to ones from old Merrell sneakers. Sizing is off. I am used to wear 10 1/2 for all Merrell product: sneakers and boots. These sandals are running big. I had to buy size 10.

Great purchase
I purchased these because I wanted a shoe that would allow airflow well to my feet and be comfortable for running in and protective. These have been perfect. My longest run in them so far has only been 4 miles, but they have been great so far. The soles are very grippy which I like for when I have worn them hiking. They dry quickly as you continue to walk in them after getting wet. I will definitely purchase again when these wear out. I love them.

WATER SHOE NOT A SUMMER SHOE
The shoe itself is amazing. I’m a fly fisherman in California and I spend a large portion of my time in the water on slick rocks. I was using adidas trail running shoes and before that the Columbia water shoes. This shoe is designed to be in the water. The sole dries out quick. You will get sand in them but it’s easy to get out compared to the other options out there. All in all if you’re a fisherman and like summer wading and are looking for shoe options this is the number 1 option.

It's a shoe, not a sandal.
Comfortable and easy to get on, but it is essentially a shoe, not a sandal. Last ditch effort to get a closed-toe sandal before a trip, now that Keen has made the Newport too tight to put on. This is a great lightweight shoe, but it is too enclosed and sweaty to wear without socks. Gave these away and ordered open-toe Chacos.

Great Summer shoe, the fit is versatile and flexible so no need to be overly concerned about wide sizes
These shoes are great!..Was a little concerned how they would fit given that I couldn't find a wide size, which always works better for me in the feeling the shoes. I ordered my regular size 11.5 and they fit just fine. I guess it's in the shoe design. They are also lightweight and very comfortable. Perfect for warm weather, beach wear, around the house wear, etc. It's not really a hiking shoe, so don't think just because of the name that they are. They are still a great purchase and good price.

Fit like a glove. Will work with or without socks. I bought them for boating and swim shoes. Great for around the dock. Sturdy enough to walk on the pier. With heal problems i need more than a flat sandal. This shoe offers much more support and cushion in the heal.
