These usually last about 2 years or more so but I don’t know how long you have had your units in operation. A few simple checks to make are, the fuses in the charging units, the hand sets, if they can be switched on/off when hand held it is unlikely to be the hand set ( I have never had one fail). The only other possibility is some interference with the sensor ie movement from some other source eg trees outside your home etc. My strong feeling is that the charging units are on the way out (unusual for 2 to fail together) but unfortunately you cannot buy these as a spare, its the whole unit or nothing. **Q: I do not want pir just dusk to dawn (a low light at night) and the power out emergency bright light - can i with off the pir?** A: I don't know what PIR is and do not see the term PIR used in the information. I have this torch, it does NOT stay on all the time, it switches on when power goes out or when it senses motion. I don't need the motion sensor, so I turn this torch around in the base, so the front faces the wall. In this orientation, the light comes on only if the power goes out. I have a different emergency torch that has a low light available dusk to dawn. This is in the base of the item. The torch comes on if the power goes out but this torch does not have a motion sensor. **Q: Can this be used as a torch outside for walking? If so how long would it work till losing charge? Thank you** A: I returned this torch as i needed it for my mother to light up by sensor at night when she went to the toilet or if the power failed but it came on and off all night long on its own and was very unreliable but to answer your question yes it can be used as a torch and i think it lasted about 4 hours. I got mine from Lidl and paid half the price and got 3 years warranty and all 3 that i have purchased have worked perfectly. **Q: Does the on off button need to be in the on position to ensure that the motion sensor operates?** A: No, on mine, the on/off button is purely for turning the light on or off. It turns itself on automatically when it senses movement or there is a power cut. If you want to turn the light off at that time, you use the on / off button for this.
